I think that's deplorable. I mean, a fighter needs to be more intelligent than to take out his aggravation on the man whose job is to protect you. The stoppage was as much for Zab as anyone else. But even something as ignorant as that isn't as bad as that video. I mean, to sucker punch someone who is trying to show you respect- that's not good. It could even have dire consequences on the fighter's career...Comment

He isn't a punk, he is a murderer and a serious mental case. I can't believe they let him box after that.
I heard it was the Kellerman's who pushed for the commissions to allow him to start boxing again, they really wanted to help him. Sam Kellerman let him stay in his house and Butler repaid him by beating him to death with a hammer.Comment

James Butler Jr. (b. December 18, 1972 in Harlem, New York) was an American light heavyweight boxer, and former USBA Super Middleweight champion. He had a career record of 20-5-0, with 12 wins coming by way of knockout, and was nicknamed "The Harlem Hammer."
Murder confession
On October 12, 2004, writer Sam Kellerman (brother of boxing analyst Max Kellerman) was murdered. (His body was found on October 17). Butler was considered a suspect; he had been friends with Kellerman for ten years.
On October 20, Butler, accompanied by a lawyer, sought treatment for his alleged bipolar disorder.
Butler was arrested for the Kellerman slaying on October 27, and two days later, he plead not guilty to murder and arson. He was held on $1.25 million bail. Prosecutors claimed that Butler, the only suspect in the case, repeatedly struck Kellerman in the head with a hammer, then torched Kellerman's Hollywood, California apartment in an attempted coverup.
On July 8, 2005, a Los Angeles judge ruled that there was sufficient evidence for Butler to stand trial on the charges of murder and arson.
On March 27, 2006, Butler pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and arson in the 2004 death of Kellerman. On April 5, Butler was sentenced to 29 years, four months in prison by Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, according to Deputy Public Defender Jack Keenan.Comment

..Why did the Kellerman's do that? I mean, you can like a guy but when he does something like that he shouldn't be allowed to box anymore. Period. He isn't a punk, he is a murderer and a serious mental case. I can't believe they let him box after that.

I'm a psychology major so I know about the different disorders and what effect they can have, but I'm not sure the boxing ring is the right place for someone with aggression problems.
On one hand, people might say it provides an outlet for their aggression, but on the other hand it makes violence a central theme in their life in such a way that I'm not sure can be healthy...Comment
