he is honestly one of the most gifted athletes ever....the problem is he lost his opportunity to build a strong legacy because of bad timing......lightweight was the division where he was more of a complete fighter, he had power, one punch KO power, speed, reflexes and boxing skills....
the problem is when he dominated lightweight there wasnt anyone around....stevie johnston blew up his chance of a fight by losing and having to rematch juan lazcano at the moment shane decided to move up....
after shane moved up suddenly castillo and later mayweather moved up...
when shane clerly beat de la hoya 7 rounds to 5, all the opponents where at 154-trinidad, vargas, winky...the only men his size at 147 where not that good and kostya tszyu avoided him...thats until the man wo had his number came around...but in losing shane demostrated the desire and toughness that has defined him...he was hurt desperate and hopeless and still finished a fight that looke like it would end 6 rounds before....he came back and fought as hard as he could to earn a close decision loss in the rematch(some had him winning, i didnt)...
but after that mosley had nowhere to go...forrest looked like he would dominate for long, there was nothing left at 147 to do so he had to chase the big fights, at 154, which absoultely ruined any boxing skills he ever had, as he adopted a one-punch at a time ****er style......he was competitive in fights against DLH(which i think DLH definatly won) and Winky and battled back as hard as he could but ultimately it was obvious his style wasnt enough to handle guys who moved up in a better fashion....and after his close second loss to winky, he kind of died down and never recovered....
i think what ruined mosley was timing, he had very bad luck with it....he turned pro too late...he stayed at lightweight too long, he moved up to ww at a time when aside from the man he beat there was no one left, and he never shouldve moved up to 154, otherwise he couldve avanged the losses to forrest by beating mayorga, and contenders judah and spinks wouldve been easy for him.....he just had bad luck...
