Because both fighters records leave a lot to be disired when u consider the high regard they are held in ,its just a sign of the times these days where u can aquire p4p status then sit back pick who u wanna fight & avoid the best & still retire with ATG status although u havent achieved what you are capable of

i wish we had a p4p champs that wanted to show everybody how truly great they are instead of having to play fantasy match up when they have retired

Considering RJJ beat the current P4P Toney at the time in his prime none of the bull**** that he was weight drained he weighed in half a pound under the limit in the fight before that.

The Tarver fight were he layed everything down was impressive, he beat a prime Hopkins that went on to be P4P no.1, a win over any Mike McCallum is impressive. To come up from 160 to over 200 to fight Ruiz is impressive and was the first fighter in 80 years to do so.

Mayweather has a decent resume but I think RJJ's is better because of the P4P ranking many of the fighter's held or went on to hold.

Mayweather doesn't have anyone in his resume with the skills and ring intelligence of James Toney and Bernard Hopkins. Maybe its not his fault but my vote goes to Roy.

Roy had more Elite fighters on his record no question

Dela Hoya is an Elite fighter IMO Hatton is aswell allthough it can be debated ,he did beat another Elite fighter in Tszyu

Castillo Corrales were not great lightweights they are overated cause they had a great fight amongst themselves are were warriors ,but we all know they are not Elite Like J C Chavz ,Shane Mosley etc

                Mayweather

Everyone keeps talking about Roys victory over Hopkins,Hopkins wasnt the same Hopkins who beat Trinidad,Hopkins wasnt at his best at that point,Ruiz was the easiest champ of all the heavyweights at that stage,Mayweathers resume is better

a win is a win is a win

He beat Hopkins with one hand EASILY & Dominated one of the best p4p fighters at the time Toney

when Calzaghe retires his achievment of dominating Kessler will only grow with what Kessler goes onto achieve then what we gonna say oh Kessler aint the same fighter then as he is now

im getting of Track this aint a Floyd bashing thread or a RJJ V Floyd who is the best p4p fighter basically for me it is an illusrtation of how both guys records leave a lot to be desired

i feel cheated that we never saw the best of RJJ against the best fighters & i feel we will have the same feeling when Floyd retires that we never got to see how truly great he was or is

more questions rather than answers seem to surround both fighters careers IMO
