I agree with you 100%. I think that the Mosley fight proved more about Cotto than the Margarito fight proved about Williams.

My only defense can be that these kids like the way Williams win. His exciting, high output style.

But your post was 100% correct. It's idiotic to say Williams is amazing for beating a fighter most consider overrated while Cotto gets less credit for taking on a real threat.

2 It was in his own home town
3 Margarito was ducked by plenty of big names
4 it was Williams test and he past it with flying colors.
5. i dont even know if Cotto would beat Margarito, especially by UD.

Williams in that fight showed that he was a force to be reckoned with, beating a champion convincingly in his own back yard is a big accomplishment. Williams beating Margarito was more significant than Cotto beating Mosley IMO. take nothing away from Cotto, but Margarito was actually in his prime, Shane was not.

The Mosley proved nothing to me..I stand by that.

Margarito is not a good fighter to me.....BUT.........the media and his hype machine says otherwise.

Ive nver said ONCE that Williams win against Margarito was an amazing feat.

When you do the eye ball test I can SEE Willimas beating any body at 147....in not very competitive fights.

Williams rating with me is based on his ability and his physical tools...if you cant see he poses a threat to anybody from 147-154 then your blind.

For us boxing is something to watch on our couches, or while drinking with buddies. To Cotto, and Margarito and all the guys you say are ducking Williams it's a career. A living. So why not do what makes the most sense for that career? Fighting Williams isn't it- yet. He's not a big draw and Cotto can make more fighting other people, Margarito is deciding what's best for his career,etc. It's not always about fear.
