Boxing Is Such a TOUGH sport

Can you imagine being a proffesional boxer or even amateur boxer.
Does it take a total lack of respect for self-preservation, or is it something else that fighters have that makes them so care free about getting hit , being punished or KO'ed and coming back up again.
I mean I've had a few amateur fights, and then gave it away.
I found it extremely difficult going for 3x2 min rounds, with a headgear on, imagine going for 12 ROUNDS! 3 min each , and continuously getting bashed, getting hit on the head, stomach, cut nose, broken nose! or bloody eye, and still fight.
If I was in that situation, I'd just say to myself'' what the hell am I putting myself through this for??and just leave the ring..
    It's such a tough sport.
Imagine swallowing your own blood, and fighting on, like it doesn't bother you, having blood run down your face and being battered and still fight on.
Having your hand broken , from the 1st round, yet keep fighting for another 11 rounds, hmmm.
    Sounds so damn brutal.
Boxers, regardless of skill level, who are prepared to give and take punishment are something different.

What is the x-factor that they have that other wana-be fighters like myself don't have.

This is a great thread. Thats why its so disturbing to hear people hate on great fighters & try to discredit their accomplishments. Few men can do this boxing **** & do it well.

Thats why i have respect for all fighters.

But people like Mayorga, are bred to be wild and be in the ring.

The training is the hardest out of any sport other than cycyling in the tour de france.

That's the post of someone who has never stepped in a ring. Every boxer is afraid, we just push past it and do what we need to. Some are just man enough to admit it, others aren't. You'll never be anything if you can't be honest with yourself. Part of boxing is learning to conquer your fear and not letting it get in the way of your fights.
