Is boxing the only sport where....

U dont have to go up against and beat the best in order to call yourself the best? ****, even in tennis there is a process of elimination, and u have to play and beat every top player in the world in order to call your self the best. Now a days in boxing, all u have to do is beat a weak title holder in order to say that your the "champ/best" of that division.

What you talking about. Tennis all you have to do is win tournaments to call yourself the best and go up the rankings. It doesn't matter one jot who you beat to win a tournament. Get your facts straight man

Yes, and in each tournament, you are playing the top dogs in the sport. Look, there is no question that Roger Federer has played every single top player in the sport and continues to win. He cant just wake up and say "well lets see who i want to play in the next tournament" He has no choice BUT to constantly play top comp in order to keep his #1 in the world title. Look at football, baseball, etc. There is a process of elimination in these sports. Only the strong survive and make it to the top. They dont get to "choose" who they want to play.

Good point, another question would be, why is boxing one of the only major sports to not have a unified sanctioning body? Without the sanctioning body no one will be forced to fight the best. Promoters and the alphabet sanctioning bodies run boxing and unfortunately that is the worst part about the sport.

No way man you're still wrong. Tennis players can pick and choose their tournaments. And they regularly do. Every week there are multiple tournaments on different surfaces with different players. All federer has to do is keep winning them regardless of who he ends up against.

And lets remember federer can play 7 matches in a week. Top boxers need two years to have that many fights. So the idea of beating all your rivals is generally hard to accomplish

Many of the top guys rarely face each other.

You left out boxing is one of the few sport that has few matchs per year compared to many other sports and sometimes a loss does not give you other fight.

It not like NFL or NHL or any other sport you meet the a team more that a dozen times in a season and even if you lose or has a night off you have another match coming to prepare.
