lmao sadly enough i look like the second toney pic , fat , while slightly muscular.

and in a weird twist before i ever knew of james toney , i always wanted my nickname to be lights out because my last name starts with an l and i thought it would sounded real good and fluid .

i didnt start watching boxing at a younge enough age to really see prime james toney at supermiddleweight in action, sadly enough .

Its also a shame that he gets remembered for that fight with RJJ, having to lose 50 pounds was a big weight drain. A rematch at 175 would have been great but we can thank RJJ for never knowing. A great fighter from middle to heavy, his record speaks for itself.
Seriously, how is that RJJ's fault, Toney said he was taking the fight with Jones seriously, kicked everyone but his trainer out of his gym and said there was no chance RJJ would beat him. He claimed he was drained AFTER the fight, how convienent.

Toney also moved up to cruiserweight when Jones went up to LHW, however he did want a rematch when Jones was defending his belt at 168, but he was handpicking bums and losing some so he wasn't worthy of a rematch with Jones.

Toney, technically, is one of the most gifted boxers I've ever seen, if he were able to control his urges he'd still be a force. I also find it disappointing he keeps being tested positive for steroids

        Yeah prob about right .
He fights great at a high weight and it helps him in some ways but he has reached the limit to where it becomes a problem that's for sure.

A lot of his weight is a health problem and out of his control though.

Toney should've stayed at light heavyweight if even super middleweight was hard for him to make

Even right after the fight Toney wanted a rematch, Every fight from when that happend in 1994 to 05 Toney ALWAYS wanted a rematch. I can post some youtube interviews. I dont get what your saying, that Toney wasnt weight drained??? lol. James Toney wasnt worth of a rematch b/c he was losing to bums?lol WTF He didnt lose to bums ever. He only losses from 94 to05 time were to Montell Griffin. I think you should use to bold to explain Jones. More like he was fighting bums and avioding a rematch with Toney or Hopkins. He fights from 94 to 05 were a joke for the most part, out of the 20 maybe 3 were solid.

If he wanted a rematch, why didn't he stay at LHW to position himself for a rematch? It doesnt make sense to demand a rematch while avoiding Jones' weightclass. What I'm saying is he was weight drained, but didn't distribute that as a problem before he lost. My point being that it was his own damn fault. Toney also lost to Thadzi, not just Montell Griffin (who is also a bum). Check his record if u want u. And check out the guys he fought while you're at it, from 97 (after McCallum) tot 2003 (Jirov) there's not a single name in sight. Not that I'm saying he wasn't good, his lack of discipline just didn't allow him to fight solid fighters because he was ballooning all over the place.

As for Jones, he offered Hopkins a 60/40 split, which he was entitled to as champion. Jones fought all his mandatories and then some, we've been over this recently.

Right after the Jones fight, Toney stayed at LHW from 94 to 97. Toney didnt start "ballooning" all over. He spent at least a few years in every weight class up to Heavy. Also Jones was doing the same. He made stops in every weight class too. Toney made everything possible for a rematch it was Jones who didnt take it. If Toney didnt fight anybody from 97 to 03 neither did RJJ.

James Toney is cool. Not too many active fighters have 70 wins.
