Agreed. Still though, let's not take all credit away from Monzon, as he stopped a closer to prime Griffith anyway, so it's not like a prime Griffith would've done much better, if any.

Griffith was an awesome fighter though.

Size of best opponents being why I rank Monzon below Hagler.

It was probably that one last magical moment that every great fighter has. Where the fighter performs like he did in his prime even though he by all means should be totally past it. Or something like that. Or maybe it was Monzon who could've had some problems at the time. Don't know.
          maybe monzon came in overconfident.

Either way, I had Griffith stretching him and winning a close one on the cards.

There was rumours of foul play about the bout, too.

          Peetie, you didn't know that??

Hagler fighting Leonard, Duran, and Hearns(all smaller fighters) is better?

They both fought smaller guys, and Hagler even managed to lose to one of them(though disputable, and his smaller opponents are probably just a tad better), but Monzon undoubtedly beat the better fulltime MW's.

I had Monzon comfortably outboxing him, though as i said, Griffith did better than I would've thought.

What foul play are you speaking of?

I hold them (Leonard, Hearns) in higher esteem than Griffith and Napoles.

A danish writer at ringside claims that he was told by Mickey Duff that he (Duff) had seen the scorecards and that Griffith was the winner. Take it for what it is worth, it has never been confirmed by Duff.

and the other guys were MULTI division champs. hearns killed himself to make 147. Killed.

Oh and instead of having same day weigh in and by Hagler weighing in at 158 for most of his fights, his opponents were able to blow up.

Thus making them actually 'bigger', but not real middleweights.

                      But dont tell Peetie that.
