Alot of the people voting probably haven't seen much of Robinson and jump on the Jones' bandwagon.

Jones wasn't at his best at 160 and while Robinson wasn't either, he was the better Middleweight and more proven there as well. Robinson's 1 punch knockout power would make Jones think twice about getting too aggressive and I see Robinson breaking him down over the course of the fight and either stopping him at some point or winning a Unanimous Decision. At 168, it'd be closer but I'd probably have Jones edging it since he was more suited there than Robinson although its difficult to say since Super-Middle didn't exist then.

agreed.. alot of people rate willy pep and sugar ray robinson and have them as their favorites just because a supposed "boxing historian" said so.. watch the fights and fighters and see for yourself.. dont just go off and agree with other people say.. i dont mean to disrespect the fighters from the older generations but i think a good majority of them are overrated.. a lot of those old generation fighters would struggle against today's generation of fighters. sugar ray is no exception.. i think he would lose to a roy jones and a marvin hagler.. I think he would struggle against and possibly lose going up against a ray leonard and against mayweather as well

I've been watching quite a bit of Ray lately. As tremendous as he was, you're comparing a fighter from the 40s and 50s to probably the most gifted and athletic boxer of this present generation, a guy who could just pot-shot the hell out of you, and was a huge middleweight to begin with, where Ray was a welterweight in physicality.

Many of the best of todays generation are simply faster and stronger, I am a big fan of SRR but at middleweight I think Roy would probably pot shot him and win quite handily.

              I got Roy Jones.

I'm going off Pound for Pound because 160 wasn't Roy or Ray's best weight.

I laughed so hard when I read this thread and saw some people saying RJJ how talented he is. Roy has some decent boxing skill, but its all athleticism man. You want to see fighters with high boxing IQ? Look at B-Hop or James tony. Not Roy Jones Junior. Sugar Ray would beat him with his skill alone. Robinson is probably one of the few fighters that can deal with Roy's speed.
