    What 3 seconds can do to a fighter!!?(Richard Steele-Taylor v. Chavez)

Follow this link. The look at Johnny Tapias record and go to Fred Hernandez. Under the verdict it states how Tapia was be hind in the fight and with 3 seconds left on the clock to end the fight Tapia had his opponet unconcious at the bell. And some people wonder why Steele stopped the fight. Taylor could have been seriously hurt.

Even more important though is that the referee uniformly applied his stoppage policy during all points of the fight.

Once the fight ends, then a fighter doesn't have to be ready to fight, but if there is still time left (any time at all), then a fighter needs to be able to fight.

Chavez won because Taylor didn't answer the question.

You don't stop a title fight with two seconds left when the fighter is standing on his two feet without any help. That is just wrong.

Exactly. Taylor was unable to answer the count, TWICE, which means he was rightfully ten-counted. A KO is a KO, it doesn't matter how much time is left in the fight. This fight is uncontroversial, though very close.

No, wrong would be to let a fight go on after one participant is counted out

The oldest boxing rule that you have to beat the referee's ten count would obviously take precedence. Taylor beat the count and was on his feet without the help of the ref or the ropes. With a couple of seconds left he deserved to finish the fight. The truth is that when Steele had seen JCC out of the neutral corner (which he clearly was), there wouldn't have been another punch thrown in that fight.

Now if it was 10 or 15 seconds I would still understand....but 2 damn seconds who knows if JCC would even throw a punch or land one. we will never know for sure, that fight will be very memorable but for the wrong reasons.
