Look, I love the way Floyd operates in the ring, but he'd get eaten alive in MMA. Those that think he'd automatically be "the man" in MMA is proving how little they know about the sport. Stand-up fighting is just half the game.. Floyd would get owned on the ground. The guy has ZERO wrestling experience. He has trained in boxing only his whole life. Once one of these MMA dudes take Floyd to the ground and pound on him, and put an armbar on him, and make him tap and squeal like a pig.. he's gonna wish he was still in a ring..
I honestly hope this MMA talk is just one bad joke. Why the f would PBF go to a sport where he'd get paid less and he'd get his ass kicked? He's the king of boxing. He has no reason to want anything else
who in mma can take 8 quick floyd shots to the face trying to take him down???

30 million dollars is not getting paid less....its more than a Margarito fight..
Watch an actual MMA fight. Guys who have good striking skills usually get owned by the ground-and-pounders/submission artists. Watch any boxer who has ventured into MMA. None of them had ANY success.
WTF is Floyd going to do when he gets wrestled to the ground, and the guy slaps a rare-naked choke on him. Or if someone puts him into a kimura? Floyd is goin out cold or tappin out. End of story
Davis, Lytll and Sakara are not top 20. Their are dozens of fighters just like them. They ARE top 20 in the UFC obviously, but UFC has a small portion of the fighters in the world.
Hopkins started training before prison, much like BJ was learning from his father since he was born. He just never went to an actual class until he was older.
As far as GSP, Joslin and others go it depends on the person they are learning from. GSP was learning JJ long before he went to Renzo. So was Joslin. You can also be a brown belt for years. Anderson Silva was a brown belt for 5 years. Wanderlei for 7. GSP has wrestled with the Canadian Olympic wrestling team since he was a teenager. He never had a wrestling background in school, but thats not how things work in Canada. IN fact, I live in Toronto and don't know a single HS with a wrestling program. You wrestler outside of school mainly.
The reason the "best" fighters don't always win is because their is that elemental of anything can happen. IN boxing, you can make mistakes. You can **** up 10 times. In MMA if you **** up ONCE it's over. It takes huge skill to be undefeated. Thats why MMA takes so much skill. If you make one mistake, it's all over. It really separates the best from the average. If you can sit their and tell me Floyd has never made a mistake you would be wrong.
Could Floyd be good at MMA? Of course. He would need to train for years and work his way up from the bottom. He has the skill obviously. Just like MMA fighters could be good at boxing if they worked hard enough.
However Floyd doesn't have the time to do this. He is to old. He would have to change every single thing he learned in boxing, from his footwork to his defense to adapt. It's to late.
UFC has the best fighters. Bar none. Guys will come into UFC with fantastic records in other organizations and lose rather quickly. Some organizations have some good fighters ie) EliteXC with Nick Diaz or M-1 with Fedor but lets not kid ourselves the other fighters in those organizations are not better than what Lytle, Sakara or Davis have to offer.
Even if they were which I know they arent the bottom line is Davis, Lytle, Sakara werent even top 500 boxers. In fact Davis and Lytle both got KO'd by guys who were ranked in the 400's and 500's.
GSP started wrestling at a club in Montreal in his senior year of high school. I live in Toronto and I agree there are not many high school wrestling programs.
I actually think its the opposite. You cant make mistakes in boxing otherwise you'll lose the fight or get tagged. See Myaweather/hatton. Boxers are so skilled at what they do that if they make one mistake they'll lose the fight or you'll at least pay for your mistake. Look at Liddell in MMA, this guy has been making tons of mistakes in striking and yet never paid for it until Rampage knocked him out.
In MMA, you can expose your back and not get submitted, throw a body punch and not get countered, leave your chin out and not get tagged etc...
The top K-1 strikers in the world such as Ray Sefo, Mighty Mo have a combined 3-2 record. Ray Sefo got knocked out in the 1st round against Chester Hughes who 99.9% of the population has never heard of.
MMA fighters can work in boxing for the rest of their lives and they would not be able to beat even a top 75 boxer in their respective weight class.
UFC proved atleast one thing, and that is that grappling, mainly Jiu Jitsu, is the most effective form of fighting. Read up on the history of the UFC and you'll see that.
Modern MMA is dominated by people that have the mixture of training in Kick Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling.
Floyd Mayweather, while he is a great boxer, hasn't trained in any of the above 3.
If he had of started out in MMA when he was young, instead of boxing, he might have been great at MMA. But he didn't, and he would get defeated against any good MMA competitor.
No I didnt. Can you read or are you that ignorant.
Your posts have no meaning. Mayweather gets beat in MMA, END OF THREAD.
dont cry....if you have read my posts you would know i gave props to your boy Don King for getting money for his fighters as opposed to Dana White....and I gave props to Mayorga for being an entertaining fighter and I thoroughly explained Mayweather's chances in the MMA in my recent posts...on this thread...
