    Hopkins....Legend in his own Mind?

    And his fans?

    Please discuss.

Personally I don't get it with Him.
He lost to the best he faced.
And the best he beat weren't regarded at the weight he fought them.

    Can ANYONE convince me otherwise?

Undersized? lol maybe De La hoya, but Trinidad perfectly fit in at 160. He had been at 154 just six pounds south and if Carmen Basillo could beat Robinson at Middle then Trinidad should have been able to. Trinidad was the heavy favorite going into the fight and Hopkins just destroyed him. When people needed an excuse they pointed to the whole "He was too small" and even some bull**** "If Trinidad didn't have that afair brought up" and my personal favorite "If 9/11 didn't happen Trinidad would have won, but he was too busy helping people to train"

De La Hoya also was doing pretty good against Hopkins until he was caught with a PERFECT shot.

Plenty of small fighters have upset bigger fighters.

      Carmen Basillo.
      Roberto Duran.

And plenty more. De La Hoya I could see an arguement for since he almost lost to Strum, but was pretty unprepared imo and did a lot better then the first fight at Middle.

And winky...undersized? You realize he hadn't fought at 154 in 2 years right? If Roy Jones could go to heavyweight from Lightheavy (which is a 15 pound jump) and win then there's no excuse that Winky couldn't have upset Hopkins.

But do you know why? Because Bernard Hopkins is Bernard Hopkins. He can figure out a ****load of styles and win his fights. He wins his fights and people then come up with bull**** excuses. It's no different from Ricky Hatton's "He was too small, the ring was too big, blah blah blah"

Calzaghe had a height advantage against Lacy and no one ever complains about that. You act like fighters don't get used to the fighting weight, but they spar and get used to it during camp. It's not like all of a sudden. Does Hopkins have more of an advantage because he's used to making weight? Yes, but that doesn't stop people upsetting the favorite. Though in Bernard's case, he beat Trinidad and De la hoya. He was also the underdog in the Trinidad fight.

I think People just hate Bernard because he has a "boring" style. I find it fascinating, but I see how it's boring to others. Still Bernard wins his fights, makes 20 defenses of his titles (Well 19 1 NC as Anorak likes to put it), and jumps up to Light heavy and beats the man. But of course the man was overrated.

You could call me a Bernard Nuthugger (Or maybe his prison partner in Bernard's case ), but I think it's ridicoulous(sp) on how people keep discrediting him.

Alright, now lets all be friends
My long ass post about it earlier.

bernard is a great fighter, but these comparisons about being better than hagler are way off! he is very good in his own right, but not a top middle of all time!

Hopkins owns you all.. No need to come to the defense of a future hall of famer, his title defenses and longevity speak for its self. Stay bitter if that's what you choose, why should we try to persuade you?

Can anyone Imagine Hopkins doing this to Hagler?
                  Or anyone worth their salt?
                  Sweet sweet Jesus.

Hopkins vs Eastman wasn't like that the whole night. He'd stay away, but he'd counter too. He kept landing that left hook from what I remember. Flush right on the button too.

I enjoyed a bit of it.
