Calderon is one of my favorites, but i thought that Esquer kid earned the win. I think Calderon is the better fighter, he just didnt show up at his best on that night and Esquer wanted that win so badly man he jst went for it for all 12 rounds while Calderon didnt even seem like he wanted to fight and didnt do anything to keep Esquer off him. I have watched the fight two and half times.

Esquer was all over Calderon that whole fight, Calderon didnt have the power to discourage him or keep him off, he just went after him for 12 rounds. Esquer came on very strong towards the end of the fight too.

Calderon vs Isaac Bustos was a gorgeous onesided display of pure boxing
Calderon vs Juan Esquer was not a gorgeous onesided display of pure boxing at all. It was a close fight and Calderon barely pulled it off.
Esquire landed 105 puches in the entire fight if I remember correctly. I gave him 1 round. What was his connect percentage? Something like 12% if I remember correctly.

Compare that to Calderon, didn't he land something like 280 punches? So not only did Calderon make Esquire miss, he controlled the distance, effectively tripled esquire in connects, all while throwing about half as many punches.

Granted Calderon's hand speed was a little slow that night, and he wasn't punch as crisp as usual, but he completely dominated the fight through pure boxing.

Why? People give a guy like Floyd and others **** when they started at lower weights, and are fighting guys much bigger(by around 20 pounds naturally sometimes). Calderon fights guys maybe 10 pounds bigger, why should he get praised and they get scolded?

Not to mention the factor I have been mentioning, the guy literally runs when under pressure(solid pressure) or hit solidly. I heard all about him and thought him to be my type of fighter, but upon watching him, I simply can't get into his style.

I dont want this thread to make me look like a Calderon hater, i like the guy and think hes one of the best. He just didnt show up at his best that night and was against a very determined kid.

Im just calling it how i saw it. It doesnt matter, i cant reverse the decision. I just was not impressed with Calderon in that fight.

Solis needs to give sosa a rematch... Giovanni Segura would probably give Calderon some problems or knock him out.

Exactly, Calderon is perhaps the smallest man in boxing. He is consistently fighting MUCH larger men. He cant really punch, so blaming him for utilizing his assets to win as ludicrous. It would be different if he could knock his opponents out and he chose to run instead, but he cant.

he was making the fight and landing more than i seen anyone land on Calderon. And Calderon wasnt coming back with enough. Esquer landed some solid ass shots too.
