He's obviously seen the #1 next to his name and assumed he's ranked as THE man at 140lb, not realizing that Hatton is actually the "Champion". A bit embarrassing on Witter's part.

I dont think Witter is on the radar at least for the moment. Hatton has many options and maybe Witter could be Hattons last ever fight befor he rides of into the moonlight.

Both guys need at least one more fight to put them on the radar as a matchup that will attract Americans. Why not have Hatton - Malignaggi at Madison Square Gardens and put Witter on the undercard? HBO could make a big deal about it and set up a big fight by the end of the year. There again Arum is touting Pacquiao as a possible opponent for Hatton in the fall and that's going to be a ton bigger than Witter.

Witter just needs to keep ****ing people like he did Vivian Harris & his time will come. Either Hatton will retire or the public will demand Hatton/Witter

i believe that witter would dig in hattons ass if u want my opinion,i dont see anywhere that ricky could win this fight besides with his power and smothering style but witter is way too quick and slick for hatton i think, could be wrong but its just an opinion, but i do also think that malignaggi deserves the fight way more then witter does and witter needs to come to the states and fight more often at least a few more times before he even has the right to call out hatton, just because he beat vivian harris does'nt mean jack, harris is slow and doesnt throw very crisp sharp punches,so his win inm my eyes was guaranteed,he needs a bigger name before he can call out hatton bottom line

You guys are such hypocrites. Alot of you are the same one's who bad mouth Floyd and call him a ***** if he doesnt fight someone but yet you make every excuse in the book for Hatton. You cant have it both ways.

Witter is WBC Champ. He has one defeat in his long career,at short notice to a man who most thought was an emerging superstar at that time when Witter was a virtual novice. He has beaten many men who were either ranked in and around the top 10 at 140 when he faced them or are now top 10 ranked (Bergman,Kotelnik,Corley,Harris & N'Dou). He is the number 1 ranked Ring Challenger yet Hatton won't face him because he dared speak his mind and say that he didn't think Hatton was all that good, thought he was avoiding him and said he thought he could knock him out.Terrible eh? Unusual isn't it for a crosstown rival to say that about another fighter from the same neck of the woods? Antonio Tarver bad mouthed his Floridian rival Roy Jones a hell of a lot more than Witter has Hatton but Jones never ducked Tarver (although he probably wisehes he did but at least he had the guts to face him).

Hatton is just making excuses. He fought Mayweather even though Floyd has said far worse things about him and disrespected him more than Witter ever did, saying things like he wouldn't even be good enough as a sparring partner for him.

The truth is plain and simple - Hatton is idolised in Britain and especially the North West. Were he to lose to a fellow north west fighter his credibilty would be severely damaged amongst his own.If he were 100% confident of beating Witter he'd fight him.But he isn't.He knows Witter is a cagey, awkward, hard hitting southpaw/switch hitter who would be a potential nightmare for him.

Like i say - thank god the likes of Benn & Lewis.Never one to duck a challenge unlike a certain Mr.Hatton from Manchester whose excuses for not facing the next best Light Welter in the world are now becoming laughable.
