To get his name out there? OK, good reason, but one would think if he wanted to do that he would have been over here years ago trying to do that with Jones Jr.
Money and more recognition beating a top 5 p4p fighter.

I seriously doubt that he would have had much chance against a young Roy Jones at light heavy.

Kessler would beat Hopkins any day of the week, and twice on sunday.

I love Calzaghe; he's one of the most classy yet ****y fighters out there and can back up all his talk. I hope he KO's Hopkins in grand fashion so that there's no controversy if there's a decision...

        Bernard is a prick.

However Calzaghe had no counter arguement for his lack of championship opposition.

Who was Hopkins' championship opposition at MW besides an inflated 130 pounder in DLH and an inflated 147 pounder in Trinidad? Besides the Taylor who beat him twice, that is?

Hopkins is way past his prime...Cal says that himself. I would think it would be more for exposure and money at this point.

And I agree, Cal isn't beating a young Roy, which is why Cal never moved up...and Hopkins never going after Roy for a rematch.

Gotta love americans who think that Europe is one big country.
Very sad uneducated fools with no concept of history prior to 2-300 years ago.
Most of them still fail to realise they are actually descended from Europeans as well.
Also there is a high percentage of Afro American people who claim to hate the "White" man yet they actually have White European DNA due to the fact that their Male heritage is actually from the white Plantation owners & workers.

I still find it funny how the Baseball have The "World Series" without any other nations competing apart from the USA.
They even call a Sport "Football" which clearly isn't and is nowhere near as old as the true Football or even Rugby Football game.

              A nation of Uneducated Hypocrites.

Ok maybe NOT ALL of the Americans are but there is certainly a high number who are!!

Borenard says he is a "World" fighter.....
Either he has a very good sense of humour or he is a total idiot.

Whatever he is he will LOSE to Joe now and would have done 5-6 Years ago.

Also Joe Calzaghe would have beaten ANYONE who Hopkins ever fought much easier to boot.

Hopkins fought a prime Jones. So, that's a bold statement, that really has no merit. Furthermore, the same argument can be made for Calzaghe about being a "world fighter" nmow can't it?

EXCEPT.. Calzaghe has traveled "as far" as Germany and Denmark. Whereas Hopkins has went to France and Ecuador.. So, technically.. I think Hopkins has done MORE WORLD travelling.

You want to hate on the Americans, that's fine. I don't care. But don't call ANYONE uneducated, if you don't know that little tid bit of information, yourself.

Hopkins travelled to the same place twice and was lucky to get a draw the first time and was put on his ass by a mediocre fighter twice. He came back and beat the mediocre fighter, then packed him bags and didn't leave the USA.

They both had essentially 20 championship defenses. ESSENTIALLY.

Calzaghe fought Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler. Aside from WINNING the title against Eubanks. Which isn't a defense.

He then GOT BY Robin Reid. In between then he beat Sakio Bika and Peter Manfredo.

Hopkins, NOT INCLUDING De La Hoya and Trinidad.

He beat a PRIME Glen Johnson, and FOUGHT a PRIME Roy Jones, coming up short in a basically close fight. No one was really outclassed in that one, is my point.

He had four opponents, Robert Allan (who he also had a draw with), Syd Vanderpool, Antwun Echols, and William Joppy who had a combined record of108-7-1.

Moved up, beat Antonio Tarver who actually was 3-2 in his last five, and was robbed in the first Jones fight. He then beat Winky Wright.

So, technically, even without the De La Hoya and Trinidad fights, and including EVERY fight Calzaghe's been in, Hopkins takes it.

NOTE: The Taylor fights, if you want to hang your argument on fights that were CLOSE and that had the younger guy getting out-hustled, be my guest. I'll laugh, you can feel good about it. Whatever. But, unless you're biased, you know the 12th round in the first fight should go to Hopkins, which means it'd of been a draw.
