    Timing is key.

Remember, a 5'11, short arm Mike Tyson out-jabbed a 6'5, 82 inch reach Tucker, who was fast himself and had a good jab.

Just be mentally and physically fit for every fight, don't get to old, and you can still do well if you are a supreme boxer like a Floyd Mayweather Jr.

nevermind i guess he is number 14 on their rankings. if he doesnt fight at 147 i dont think he deserves that. http://insider.espn.go.com/sports/bo...2=stateChanged
The whole p4p ranking was designed to control for physical limitations to rate fighters where they are. Hatton at 140 is probably still p4p top 10.

The reach is the most telling statistic, TWENTY inches.

Floyd is only 5'8" or 5'8 3/4" depending on who you ask, but he has twenty six inch arms. Half a foot on each arm makes a HUGE difference.

Just because he gets fat between fights doesn't mean anything. Have you seen his face between fights? There's a couple pounds of fat right there.

Hatton will come back to 147 if Floyd fights Williams or Cotto, how's that?
i dont think it was a cop out because floyd isnt a natural 147 either, but i do see your point and dont consider it a great win in the welterweight division, just a great win agaisnt a good fighter. im glad the floyd stuff has died down a little. people have realized that he will come back late next year or early 2009 and fight the biggest money fight available, hopefully cotto beats oscar so it will be cotto.

I disagree. Hatton is clearly a smaller guy and more natural at 140. Ricky would look like a field mouse in against Williams, Margarito, or Cintron.

i agree in theory obviously, but 140 has little talent compared to 147, you gotta fight the best or you get no respect in my book, yes that means floyd has to fight cotto if he beats oscar. i mean are you gonna put hatton above someone like cotto if he loses to money may and hatton beats up on paulie and other 140 pound run of the mill guys?

Ricky is heavy enough, but his physical proportions are just too much of a disadvantage. I mean, not to the point of rendering him incapable of competing, though. Qawi was a LHW...

so you must give a hell of a lot of credit to floyd for fighting above his natural weight. because obviously if he fought at 140 and below he would knockout virtually everyone, or get easy decisions. just wondering
