What I was hoping this fight to be!!

I was hoping this fight would be a good match, the last couple Mayweather fights just didn't have enough action for me. I had not seen Hatton fight yet but heard how good he was and I was hoping that pressure and agression would bring out in Mayweather the fight it did. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I like Hattons style of fighting and he definately has a following from the turnout I saw. Mayweather is just more powerful and has the technique it takes to land those powerful shots. I did however feel the both spent a lttle too much time holding, come on guys I prefer seeing the shots. Anyway the fight was great, I loved it and now I'm not just a Mayweather fan but I'm a Hatton fan as well.

Now I don't know about that other guy Mayweather had in his camp but Cherry sure swept the floor with him.

Who wasn't 100% sure.... I told ya'll before the De La Hoya fight that floyd would whoop margarito, hatton and cotto... That's one down 2 to go, but I also said that if floyd fought hatton, then cotto and margarito should get down to see who really deserves the next shot at floyd. Do you agree?

What about Cotto or Mosley or how about that Hearns clone - Paul Williams?” I asked. Clearly I was a desperate man grasping at straws.

“Tom! C’mon,” Kenny said, trying to coach some reality into me. “There ain’t no one around whose gonna’ touch Mayweather. He’d eat Cotto for breakfast and Shane ain’t got the goods no more to handle what I just saw. Floyd ain’t gonna’ fight Williams or Margarito because there ain’t no money in it for him.”

“Yeah, you’re right,” I said. “He’ll probably really retire this time.

“Oh, jeez, he might as well,” said Kenny. “There ain’t no one out there that can beat that man I saw in there tonight.”

And with that, the phone went dead and Kenny’s voice was replaced by the dull hum of a blank dial tone.

It was just as well. After having told every friend I have that Hatton was assured of victory, the rancid aftertaste of my own words smacked me in the mouth like a “check hook” from the “Pretty Boy”.

^Cheers!! I honestly believe that this fight solidified Floyd as the premiere fighter of this generation. Write up after write up he's been getting so much praise and respect that wasn't there before on this same level.

Mayweather's tactic of using his elbow is what made him win.
He places his elbow in Hatton's neck and push it upwards when Hatton would come over and try to do body punches that's why Hatton was not able to do his thing. Floyd should have been warned for that. But in fairness, Floyd is a very intelligent fighter and is too good for Hatton.

Hatton may have been able to win against Mayweather if Floyd never saw him coming. That's the one thing that seriously concerned me going in. Floyd had to be able to come up with a few moves and added tricks to deal with Hatton knowing 100% what Ricky would do for 12 full rounds with months to prepare and an explicit HBO docudrama to bring it all to life..

Now, if somebody picked Baldomir or someone like that over Floyd - that's a different story..
One of the realest posts i've seen on the board in a while.

Hatton gave Mayweather hell. Dont kid yourselves, fellas.

Like Mayweather said Hatton is a straight ahead fighter, "no special effects". That's what Hatton proved. Mayweather had to use those 'special effects' to beat Hatton.

In my opinion Hatton was looking excellent. I didn't have the HBO blinkers on which was why I had the fight fairly close up until the 8th round where Mayweather started to take over. Hatton had a perfect gameplan to knock Mayweather off his high horse. He was moving his head early and finishing with the jab to end off his combo's. Really keeping Mayweather honest.

For whatever reason, he ran out of steam and got frustrated.

                  Mayweather was just......dare I say it....better, maybe?

If Hatton ever has a training camp like that again, I would pick him to beat both Mosley and Cotto.

Even though he lost, he proved to me that he is a great fighter.

                      Hmm another thing to consider...

Floyd beat Hatton with his B+ game.

I'm sure there's a lot more to Floyd than what he displayed against Ricky.

Ricky was able to bring out some of the Money May in Floyd, but Floyd made it look like another effortless performance.

                      Just my observation.
