He already made up his mind about Hatton before the fight. He ignored Mayweather's constant use of the elbow, warned him only in the 5th round but did nothing about it when it continued for the rest of the fight. And wasn't it an elbow which caused Hatton's cut?

LOL I'm not British and this was easily the worst refereeing job I can remember.

Hatton wasn't far behind on the cards at the time of the knockout.

In fact it wouldn't be far fetched to think he was even leading. Because I had Floyd up by at most 1 or 2 rounds and 1 from the point deduction.

Cortez should be withdrawn from refereeing unless he is prepared to admit that he made mistakes. If he does not recognise his mistakes then he is not fit to officiate.

This is all true, you will get mad hate for it though.

I think the mistakes he made were so flagrant even in admission he cant referee because he still wouldn't be able to catch them in the future.

This isn't a simple mistake where a ref incorrectly scored a knockdown, or took a point off without merit. It was allowing another fighter to constantly strike the other with illegal obvious blow throughout then entire course of a fight. It is unforgivable for a ref in my opinion.

I dont mind Cortez intervening if lots of holding for long periods of time is going on but everytime Hatton was in close on Mayweather Cortez was jumping in.

Mayweather would have won the fight if it were in Manchester with a handpicked referee. That doesn't change the fact that Cortez did an atrocious job in a mega fight. His remarks are insulting and if the NSAC had any balls they would censure him.

What the **** is wrong with you? Taking the internet a bit too seriously huh? I debate you about Hopkins beating Trinidad senseless in a thread yesterday and yet you still can't keep my name out of your ****ing mouth? Pathetic.

As to the topic, I'd have preferred to see Steve Smoger ref it because, quite frankly I love that dude's style. But it still wouldn't have changed a thing, because Mayweather is better on the inside than even Hatton. Hatton would've had more momentum but ultimately he'd still have lost.

                    Man.

I could understand if the fight went 12 rounds and Mayweather won a decision....how people would be incensed about the elbows and the officiating. lol as it stands its just sour g****s coming from people who hate Mayweather.

Exactly. Cortez was splitting them for holding before any holding even took place. He is the Minority Report Ref.
