He is already one of the best, just not the best. Paul Williams and Cotto are nobodies to elevate anybody to an atg status by beating them. They are not THAT important. Cotto is no Hagler and Williams is no Hearns. They're not even a Floyd Mayweather.

This is the thing, and should we really expect him to? It's like saying The Blow isn't a genuine P4P figher because he couldn't step up and beat Little Klit.

I hear ya. Mayweather should really still be fighting at 140 but he's moving up for the money fights.

The only reason that he initially moved up was the chase De La Hoya, which was his dream fight for years.

I agree with you here to be honest Anorak. Particularly when it comes to Hatton who I really want to see go back to clear up his rightful division. With Floyd its difficult to tell, he could box his way to victory against a couple using his skills, but he's seriously starting to disadvantage himself if he faces some of the truly best WWs. I dont know how Cotto would do against him, but he's a big risk where there are no real question marks over how Cotto can perform. I dont think that it'll be a major issue anyway cos I dont think that Floyd will end up fighting them. I think that he'll go out with a couple of big money safeish fights before retiring. I dont blame him for it at all.

I can't see it being too much when he already moved up to 154 and beat Oscar. I think 147 is perfect for Mayweather. His body has taken the weight well. I just rewatched the fight. And Floyd was brilliant in the second half of the fight. Really for a majority of the fight. He's too quick for the bigger welters. Hatton was able to stay on him becuase he's naturally a lightweight and has very quick feet. The bigger 147 pounders won't be able to keep up with Floyd. I think Williams has a great chance of beating Mayweaher. But Floyd doesn't have to fight him and I wouldn't either.

Oscar was a special case in that Oscar himself was a small man who had moved up, and was also at the end of his career. When you think about it, Floyd hasn't really fought any genuine big men at the weight, with the possible exception of Carlos Baldomir (who was slow). Not a criticism, like I say, I think it's a step too far.

we shouldn't EXPECT him to beat Paul Williams, but he certainly could. he would box circles around Cintron and Cotto, but Williams is the cat to watch out for because he's tall, southpaw, and actually has skills unlike Margarito.

This is the samething that Ive been saying for the last year but no one listens. Its so unfair to keep calling Floyd a punk for not fighting these super huge WW's when he's not natural there. His cut off limit is 140 like you say but he can go higher because he has crazy skill that no one else has. Floyd doesnt want to lose a fight just because someone is bigger then him which would be the case.

Manny Steward who keeps dissing Floyd even said that the only one's who can beat him are the "big WW's". That tells you right there that he's basically saying that they can beat him just because there much bigger, not better. P4P those guys arent even close to him but he has to stop somewhere. With all that being said, I honestly believe that Floyd would beat all of them but I also wouldnt be shocked if he lost. Also, what if he won but had to pitty pat to do it? Then everyone would kill him for that even when he's at a huge disadvantage. If thats the case then what would it really prove anyway?

It just sucks all the way around because Floyd should really be fighting at 135-140 but the best guys are at 147 and there really 154 pounders. The good thing for Floyd is that this is the first time he's starting to look bigger. He probally cant go to LW anymore but should be at 140. Still, fans think the other guys are so brave for calling out Floyd. There calling him out because they know he is a little boy compared to them and they will get there biggest payday. Still though, I do think Floyd is a fighter and will eventually fight on because he's not ready to just quit training and if he trains then he will want to fight. The only big money fights are with a guy like Cotto so I do think we will see it if Cotto keeps winning
