I remember somebody saying before they'd like to see Taylor train with Floyd Mayweather, Sr. to improve his defense, anybody think it'd work?

Taylor is the more skilled fighter, I doubt anyone would disagree with that. But you guys are giving Pavlik NO credit for the win. If he hadnt got ****y in the 2nd round and stuck his chin out it would have looked like a very one sided fight in favor of Pavlik. Taylor unloaded on him with everything he had and couldnt put him away. Im on the record already on this, but Pavlik knocks him out in a more one sided fight this time. No way Taylor comes back from that fight and is the same. He threw everything he had at Pavlik and still got knocked out.

That would require Taylor to actually listen to his trainer. If Manny screaming at him cant get through I dont know how much luck Sr. would have. But you never know. Taylor with a great defense would be scary.

It almost seemed that he started to believe all the criticism he had been getting after that 2nd round. as if he knew he was beat already and was hoping for something to bail him out or a big mistake on Pavlik's part. If Jermaine ever got in "the zone", he would be incredible.
yeah that makes a lot of sense and you are probably right, i just thought it could be because taylor isnt too bright, but a great corner could make even a dumb fighter have some semblance of a defense. im not saying taylor is dumb, but he obviously does have a low boxing iq like u said.

i dont understand that at all, pavlik showed incredible heart and great power. he is a good fighter. i just dont see what else he did that fight that would make him great. i dont really think anyone is ripping on pavlik by not saying he is great. maybe i missed something, why is pavlik great and not just pretty good with some problems with d and not much speed? and what do you make of pavlik getting murdered on all the cards at the time of the final knockdown?

He outboxed taylor, despite the robbery that the judges had preplanned for him in the fight. Taylor is no boxing schmuck either, he held his own/won against some of the best ever.

are you referring to a 40 year old bhop, or a 36 year old winky wright, im just joking, i dont know much about his career, the two wins against bhop are his best wins im assuming though?

Both those guys were p4p ranked at the time(not sure about hopkins, but he was on p4p lists AFTERWARDS so that tells you something). I would say the Hopkins wins are the best though, yeah.

I thought the scorecards looked like another Taylor rip off. I thought he lost one of the Hopkins fights, the Winky fight, and the Spinks fight was close. Im not saying Pavlik is great, he has only beaten two good fighters so far. I dont even know if he has the ability to be great, but he is very good. He may not be skilled like Taylor, but he gets the job done.
