Hatton brought that upon himself, he's known for that so Joe Cortez trying to call it fair he stopped the reputed for clinching Hatton every chance he got, he warned Floyd too for his bull**** but Floyd ain't really known for anything other than good skills, Floyd just used Hatton's holding against him as part of his game plan but if you noticed Floyd let go of Hatton once instructed to break and Ricky ALSO hit Floyd a few times in back of the head, Floyd didn't do enough of that to get penalized, a little bit here and a little there but early on Ricky was doing his vintage hit and hold ****, Floyd just took notice and started hitting then holding him and beat him to his own punch then when the time was right (8-10) Floyd fell back and out boxed Ricky using distance and accuracy, no holding, you gotta realize Floyd gave Ricky what Ricky is used to giving and Ricky couldn't deal with it, he in turn got kicked off his game plan and was showing signs of frustration, once that happened the fight ended..

This will be a hard fight for both men. Hatton is (possibly) taking on top guys even after a loss. Gotta love that. Paulie makes fights ugly, but so does hatton when he smothers his own punches.
This could be an ugly fight but there will be suspense in seeing if Hatton can catch Paulie.Comment

I never said he would I just said don't sleep, if you would have read my post thoroughly you would have caught the part where I said "I would pick Ricky if this fight is made".. Floyd FYI DID get away from Ricky he just applied a smart game plan, he threw Hatton off by beating him at his own game, once Hatton tried other things thats when Floyd just hit reverse and instead of trying to grab and hold he just flew back and punched as he did, the dude out boxed him and put on a great show, Ricky's aggression didn't help him because all Floyd was doing was finding his rhythm without letting Ricky establish himself, thats why he grabbed him FIRST and did what he did, once Floyd said NOW he kept his distance and stopped Ricky in his tracks landing CRAZY combo's, dude out worked him but he DID get away when he felt the need.. 100Comment

I see what you're saying, but I have yet to see a Floyd fight where he doesn't foul with that elbow. Cortez warned him about it a couple times, even gave him a warning in the corner, where Roger threw a fit. Then he just let him get away with it the rest of the fight. Ricky was done after the point deduction, but c'mon, have you ever seen a bigger flop job, reminded me of Vlade Divac when he was with the Lakers.Hatton brought that upon himself, he's known for that so Joe Cortez trying to call it fair he stopped the reputed for clinching Hatton every chance he got, he warned Floyd too for his bull**** but Floyd ain't really known for anything other than good skills, Floyd just used Hatton's holding against him as part of his game plan but if you noticed Floyd let go of Hatton once instructed to break and Ricky ALSO hit Floyd a few times in back of the head, Floyd didn't do enough of that to get penalized, a little bit here and a little there but early on Ricky was doing his vintage hit and hold ****, Floyd just took notice and started hitting then holding him and beat him to his own punch then when the time was right (8-10) Floyd fell back and out boxed Ricky using distance and accuracy, no holding, you gotta realize Floyd gave Ricky what Ricky is used to giving and Ricky couldn't deal with it, he in turn got kicked off his game plan and was showing signs of frustration, once that happened the fight ended..
Anyway, Floyd fought a good fight and I liked the way he was after the fight. But with the huge ring, the heavyweight gloves, fighting at his worst weight, and then with the horrible treatment from the ref, Ricky didn't stand a chance. He might not anyway, but at least he would have made it a better fight.Comment

I feel you and maybe it would have been a more competitive fight without those deficits, things like that take a toll and discourage some guys, not to say that happened to Ricky but it is possible, I can very much understand and see how thats possible but I think Cortez did the best he could, it was a VERY phone booth style of fight early on, they didn't make it easy on him and Joe tried to give warning on top of warning to both guys, for the most part I thought he was fair it's just in that 6th round Hatton's foul play stood out a little more, Floyd landed some dirty shots too but could have been smacked on the hand and warned, Ricky however punched right behind the head, maybe Joe took it as retaliation, maybe he took it as it wasn't so bad but I know for one thing Hatton was hitting foul A LOT and while yes I do believe it wasn't on purpose it still doesn't take back the punch.. I feel you though and maybe Joe should have been a little harder on Floyd, he got away with a lot too but overall I think there was no evading that outcome, Ricky's style was head first and it showed when he hit that turn buckle head first.. 100I see what you're saying, but I have yet to see a Floyd fight where he doesn't foul with that elbow.
