What happens in boxing if someone punches someone on the throat?

Even if its by an accident, is that an automatic disqualification?

I meant to say on the throat not in it... sorry

No. I mean you can hit in the neck all you want, so I'm sure the throat is legal. Corrales had a long neck and the shorter Freitas hit him in the neck all night. It's legal

you can punch someone on their adams apple? I thought you can easily kill someone if you punch them hard enough on the adams apple...

Hitting on the neck is not the same as placing constant pressure with the forearm.

What would you have your opponent do , put his head in your face ? brawlers often come head first , I dont know who your talking about but was the elbow guy fighting a renoun head butter , ball fouling type fighter by any chance ?

boxing scares the hell out of me when I think about the hits that can be copped, and the one you just mentioned now.

It's generally hard to hit a boxer in the throat since their chin is almost always tucked in.

it happened 2 me last week 3 times lol i was the smaller fighter but i didnt tuck my chin in a few times and payed for it oh well :P thats whats being amatuer is all about learning.
It hurt like hell afterwards but it soon went but it can cause big damage if it keeps happening so took ur chin in lol.
What happened was i went to lean a few times and didnt turn my chin in and got caught a few times but it only hurt afterwards cause when ur boxing for a while u dont feel much at least i dont enless im taking a big beating.
i think i took 2 jabs to the neck by one counter puncher and a right hand from a very fast welter and im only lightwieght hes alot taller then me too.

No the fighter gets as much time as he wants this happened in Azumah Nelson vs Genaro Hernandez fight which took 15 minutes for the fight to resume when Nelson hit Hernandez in the throat.
