Hatton says he wasn't warned for hitting behind the head, but I know for a FACT that he was warned at lease twice prior to the foul.

Joe Cortez warned both fighters in the dressing room that he would take points for illegal shots, however, i do think that Cortez had a terrible night, and he was breaking Mayweather & Hatton needlessly at times, especially in the earlier rounds. Hatton has admitted that he was beaten by a better fighter, and although Mayweather was just as guilty as Hatton with regards to foul tactics, i don't think that anyone can disagree that it was an emphatic victory nonetheless.

Muscles require oxygen to function. Oxygen enters the body through the lungs, which are supplied via the throat. A fighter placing his forearm in your throat and pushing restricts your air intake, and effectively asphixiates you.

Tired fighters make more mistakes.

Pushing on a fighters neck fatigues the neck muscles and reduces the amount of punishment a fighter can endure.

Both pushing on a fighters head and pushing your elbows and forearms into a fighters neck are both illegal in the sport of boxing.

Fouls in the sport of boxing are few and far between. Most rules in the sport of boxing are in place for the safety of the fighter. Hitting behind the head is illegal because of the potential for damage to the base of the skull and the brain. Punches to the kidney are illegal for the potential for kidney damage. Low blows are illegal for obvious reasons. Elbows and headbutts are illegal for the potential to cause cuts and other serious damage.

Rules are there to protect the fighter. Floyd Mayweather demonstrated with great effectiveness why those rules are in place.

very dissapointed that hatton took his first loss so bad, after the fight mayeather was very gracious and full of praise, hatton never once said 'ok, i got beat by a great fighter'. hatton has fouled throughout his whole career and all floyd did was set him up with the elbow now and then, which he himself has done his whole career so hatton should of been prepared for that. fact: hatton could fight mayweather 100 times with a different ref for each bout and guess what? hatton gets his overated ass beat every time. Why are people making such a big deal out of the interview? There's an enormity of difference between an excuse and a reason. Hatton gave REASONS why he lost. He didn't say "I want to have in investigation, I lost because I was on U.S. soil, I did this, I did that, boo hoo." He said, in a nutshell, "Floyd got away with stuff on the inside that I didn't get away with." Ok, and? He gave the guy respect and basically said he was an intelligent fighter for getting away with it and out-Hatton'ing Hatton. He (Hatton) even said he probably didn't help matters by having his own brawling history, giving the ref hell, and getting out of his own game plan. Like I said, reasons, not excuses. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Floyd, but he stuck to a gameplan better than Hatton, and he won. End of story. Don't jump on the guy for stating what was obvious, especially when he's not when he didn't take away from his opponent's performance.

The Ref broke them a every time Hatton had Mayweather cornered over and over and over again, for the first 2 rounds when Floyd 's hand should have been knocked away by the Ref and points being taken away for excessive holding.

it would of been nice if ricky held his hands up and said 'yep, hes a great fighter'. it doesnt mattrt what game plan ricky came with (has he ever had more than 1??) floyd won so convincingly, ricky hatton never beats floyd mayweather. ever.
