I have to agree with you oldgringo. At 140 I thought this fight was a ****ing mismatch. Now I think Cotto has closed that gap significantly after watching him & the Mosley fight. Even though I still favor Mayweather, Cotto could make him very uncomfortable in there. He's bigger/stronger than Hatton, recovers very well after getting buzzed, & has deceptive handspeed but he doesn't have Hatton's footspeed though. The one thing about Cotto is that he appears to tire when the fight goes on & isn't as menacing as he is early on. And if he tires against Mayweather he's in trouble.

No he isn't. Cotto is a better boxer than Hatton imo, but that doesn't mean it would be a better fight or that Floyd isn't a better boxer and absolutely HAS to fight him, or else. I reiterate what I said else where.

Cotto's Jab is not better than Oscar's
His pressure isn't as intense as Hatton's
His size isn't as overwhelming as Baldomir'His speed isn't anything like Zab's

Therefore, in my view, he doesn't have a great chance at beating Mayweather. On top of that, Floyd doesn't need him for ppv. There's nothing indicating that Floyd NEEDS to fight him to prove something unless he stayed fighting, and at welter weight.

I again not saying that PBF is ducking Cotto or has to fight Cotto........BUT if anyone has earned a right to fight PBF (at WW) its Cotto.

Cotto's has been able to handle speed from Judah and Mosley who are #1 and #3 in pure hand speed. Now PBF is dangerous because he brings so much more than pure talent he brings tremendous skill and craftiness, coupled with tremendous conditioning which allows him to come on strong in the later rounds.

Cotto is not as strong as DLH was at 154 but Cotto matches up better against PBF than DLH did stylisticly.

It amazes me at the straw grabbing displayed on this forum and any Floyd fan who takes it seriously or spends too much time falling for traps, are just as ridiculous since they buy into it.

They **** on Floyd Mayweather all day for not using his hands as much as he should and being too defensive minded. He goes toe a toe and wins by a spectacular knock out performance, and two hours later people began bitching about Floyd ducking Cotto, someone who he is better than, has accomplished more than, and doesn't care about at this moment.

They are scapegoating by pointing at Cotto's ppv as if money is the reason. It is obvious to any and all of us enlightened human beings, that Cotto has never done over 400K. Neither has Mayweather prior to DLH, but he did more and also waaaay more HBO coverage and a much longer following. It isn't hypocrisy either because De La Hoya fought Floyd for his pound for pound status.

If Floyd Mayweather is genuinely bored with the sport, as he says, then he'd need motivation to come back. Miguel Cotto can be, but doesn't have to be and isn't that motivation, not anymore than Paul Williams can be or the other people waiting in line.

You see, Cotto is not p4p#1. He hasn't even closed in on the top 5. He is not a threat to Mayweather's mythical title and barley out pointing Mosley, who hasn't been a champ in years, especially at Welter, says nothing to the effect that he's a must-fight threat to Mayweather's welter weight crown. IF Mayweather chooses to fight, then by all means, Miguel is the most deserving. But if he wants to take a vacation or leave for good, then Miguel is no Marvin Hagler. He doesn't have the power to demand that Mayweather fight him in order to prove that he was the true p4p king when he left or best of that era (along the lines of what Sugar needed to prove). No sir, Miguel is a ****ing contender. Cut the smokescreen, he is a good contender but no one owes him anything, especially the fighter of the decade..

He gave a Jr WW a shot, why not give the #2 recognized WW one as well? Maybe not enough money involved, but what are we his accountants or boxing fans?

hatton was ranked one of the top p4p and he's not on cotto's level so pound 4pound means nothing it's just peoples oppinions thats all p4p is .floyd doesn't have to fight cotto but i don't see why not beating cotto could get him closer to be the atg and he will get alot more respect. williams is kinda still coming up no one thinks to highly of cintron nor margarito so cotto would be the best fight and maybe people won't criticize him any more if he fights cotto

He didn't go toe2toe, he was getting backed up all night long by a smaller boxer. He backs up in all his fights, thats not going toe2toe.... He was even getting backed up when he got the ko. You obviously don't know what toe2toe is, its fighting in the middle of the ring mostly, not fighting off the ropes for 12 rounds straight.
