Dawson seems to have every punch in the book. The right jab would be in Calzaghe's face all night and he eat Joe up with his great right uppercut. If Joe thought the ones that Kessler hit him with were hard, he'd really feel Dawson's.

I feel that it'd be a lot like the Adamek fight, with Dawson's superior hand speed discouraging, in this case Calzaghe, from leading. Once he establishes that spatial relationship, the hooks start coming off the jab, the body work starts coming in, and that sick uppercut starts landing.

Just a bad, bad match up for Calzaghe.

Sorry to burst your bubble but fighting Joe is alot different then fighting Adamek.

Instead of fighting a fighter who stands up straight and throw's telegraphed shots, he's fighting a guy who gives you different looks. Not just the standard ear muff defense, but a guy who wings his shots, then pot shots for a bit outside, then switches up and wrestles with you inside.

I saw Harding upset his rythym with the spurts of pressure that he tried to put on Dawson. Granted that was Dawson in his first major fight, but he did look a little fishy for my taste.

But the comparsion works because Harding is a southpaw.

The uppercuts and hooks that you are talking about will only work vs. inferior pressure opponents. Not vs. a guy like Zag who has showed us he is one of the p4p best. And boy is he awkward.

It is a good fight, though. Too bad it wont happen. Zag's got bigger fish to fry. Not a very good fight from a business point of view.

Calzaghe may well retire undefeated, but it’s doubtful that Floyd is going to retire any time soon. In the past, he has mentioned considering retiring, but he’s too young to do that. He could still be in the limelight for a number of good years.

Of course, nothing beats retiring in all glory as an undefeated champ. He’s got all the money he would need to live comfortably the rest of his days, right? That way he will also spare the fans the heartache of seeing him lose, and discrediting the other fighter for “beating up an old man.”
