The first time around, you figure oh yeah, Castillo is shot and the fight would've been more competitive in Castillo's prime. You hear Steward constantly knocking on Castillo's lack of legs in the fight, and inferior handspeed. I kinda felt the same after seeing it live in Vegas.
However, I just rewatched it and I feel differently now. I watched it very closely, every second. Hatton won the 1st two rounds with good speed and a lot of rough-housing, but in rounds 3 and 4 you see Castillo was really fighting back well landing though uppercuts and hooks to the body. Sure, Castillo did not look as good as he did when he rematched Corrales, but he was not totally shot. He was really giving Ricky hell in round 3 and starting to remind me why so many of us found him so remarkable in previous fights vs guys like Lazcano, Diaz, and Corrales. The fight is pretty damn competitive until the KO, which probably would have taken anyone out.
I gotta say, rewatching that fight may do a lot of us some good. Gotta admire Castillo, and also admit that win was bigger for Hatton than previously thought.
