    Rewatched Hatton-Castillo...thoughts

The first time around, you figure oh yeah, Castillo is shot and the fight would've been more competitive in Castillo's prime. You hear Steward constantly knocking on Castillo's lack of legs in the fight, and inferior handspeed. I kinda felt the same after seeing it live in Vegas.

However, I just rewatched it and I feel differently now. I watched it very closely, every second. Hatton won the 1st two rounds with good speed and a lot of rough-housing, but in rounds 3 and 4 you see Castillo was really fighting back well landing though uppercuts and hooks to the body. Sure, Castillo did not look as good as he did when he rematched Corrales, but he was not totally shot. He was really giving Ricky hell in round 3 and starting to remind me why so many of us found him so remarkable in previous fights vs guys like Lazcano, Diaz, and Corrales. The fight is pretty damn competitive until the KO, which probably would have taken anyone out.

I gotta say, rewatching that fight may do a lot of us some good. Gotta admire Castillo, and also admit that win was bigger for Hatton than previously thought.

I viewed it the same way.

Unfortunately, if Manny Steward wasn't harping on Castillo's legs being 'shot', none of the kids on the board would of had a damn thing to say.

I wouldn't say he was giving Ricky "hell" in round 3, but he sure was fighting back with some steam.

Ricky found his range and really outmuscled him on the inside. You could tell early that Castillo, although not smaller, was physically weaker. Hatton outgunned him using athleticism.

It's not really impressive at all. He showed glimpses in round 3 of his former self, but still was horribly shot and didn't have his legs.

Was I suprised JLC got knocked out? Yes, but still.

People don't give David Diaz credit because he beat an old Erik Morales. Morales should glimpses of his former self, but at the end of the day, he was old. Same with Castillo.

Castillo lost to that canadian fighter before his fight with Hatton. Herman something...and his wars with Corrales, etc.

                He didn't lose to him.

It was Herman Ngoudjo. I've actually had the privelege of watching MORE THEN ONE Herman Ngoudjo fight.

He has been fighting in Montreal for the past few years. I have watched him at least 5 times.

Just because you have never heard of him, doesn't mean he isn't a good fighter.

He was a Canadian Olympian from what I remember also.

                Good fighter.

Hatton had alot to do with the way Castillo looked. Castillo is known for being a slow starter anyway. He was coming around in the third but he was clearly feeling the body attack. We all know what happened in the 4th.

The interesting thing about that fight is that Joe Cortez reffed that fight...and he let Hatton do his thing on the inside without interference. IF Cortez changes his style for tommorrow night's fight....then you will know the fix is in. Watch out for this. Personally, I think the fight will be fairly reffed though....Cortez will let them go at it IMO. (fingers crossed)

Before the Castillo fight everyone was saying that it was too close to call or they were picking JLC. But then Hatton takes him apart and all of the sudden Hatton beat a shot fighter. Yeah so what if he was more impressive than Floyd beating a retired fighter (DLH) or a clubfighter (Baldomir).
