Who are we to say whats necessary..

Wait... let me get this straight:
You are saying that a creative art form is fake?? Are you saying that Biggie didn't ACTUALLY rob a Knicks player of $100,000 after boning his girlfriend??
That is shocking.
*Dios softly weeps*
I have a mansion
Forget the price
Ain't never been there
They tell me it's nice
I live in hotels
Tear out the walls
I have accountants
Pay for it all
They say I'm crazy but I have a good time
I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime
Life's been good to me so far
My Maserati
Does one eighty-five
I lost my license
Now I don't drive
I have a limo
Ride in the back
I lock the doors
In case I'm attacked
I'm making records
My fans they can't wait
They write me letters
Tell me I'm great
So I got me an office
Gold records on the wall
ust leave a message
Maybe I'll call
Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through
(Everybody sing) I'm cool (He's cool)
I can't complain but sometimes I still do
Life's been good to me so far
I go to parties
Sometimes until four
It's hard to leave
When you can't find the door
It's tough to handle
This fortune and fame
Everybody's so different
I haven't changed
Rap (mainstream) is the saddest form of music/creative art to come out of America since...well...ever!
America has produced some of the most magical and talented artists in every field and this ... urgh ... I don't know what to say. The lyrics are just awful and sound like they were written by a try-hard thirteen year old wannabe homie.
Man, I wish jazz was still the main art form in mainstream America. Not all this pimpin' shizzle fizzle hoe *****z ****e. It's embarrassing. Even more so when done by a rich fighter living it up with millions talking about his 'block' and 'hustlin' with my *****z'.
I've often wondered if most of the top guys in mainstream rap are serious. I mean, they can't be...can they? Are they that deluded to think what they say and act like is actually hip?
Bring back Miles, Parker and Coltrane.Comment

Thank god we dont see the results of that. I on the other hand have had friends who have been murdered in the ****** of Baltimore because they were trying to copycat the thug lifestyle. Its a real tragedy, I dont want to say that it is ONLY the music and stuff that CAUSES it, because its a combination of things, but its kind of like rap music was originally an organic product of the ****** but now almost serves as a reinforcer of it.Comment

I don't care, you aren't a thug either.
Rational human beings who don't condone intra-ethnic genocide. Please don't attack me like I don't have Floyd's back every day on here, I'm just being honest.Who are we to say whats necessary..
Street cred is earned.Floyd says stuff like that to appeal to people IN THE HOOD..."street cred"
Which is why I don't listen to Jay-ZNo **** he isnt about to go sell drugs...neither is jay-z whos worth 600 million dollars...
Why don't we just agree to disagree then, because obviously I can't convince you that selling drugs is wrong, so whatever.Jesus...cmon you coo and all but your of base on this one...
I understand the points you and Dios both are making and it brings up a legitimate debate. I'm definitely not the one to point the finger at rap music as it's a double standard to do so but I am critical of those artists who promote violence simply because it's what sells. These conglomerate labels give the ultimatum that either you rap this way or we won't put out your record, so it's two-fold as well.Thank god we dont see the results of that. I on the other hand have had friends who have been murdered in the ****** of Baltimore because they were trying to copycat the thug lifestyle. Listening to some of the escapades Charlie Parker got up to would your eyes water. Getting a hooker to give him head whilst scoffing a bucket of chicken in the back of a cab is a story that needs to be told.Rap (mainstream) is the saddest form of music/creative art to come out of America since...well...ever!

Those gangster rap lyrics? They were written by this guy:

Joe Walsh. The song is called "Life's Been Good" and it was on an album called "But Seriously Folks" in 1978.
Joe Walsh was in that gangster rap group called "The Eagles".
