I think Ricky will start strong and fast, trying to impose his style on Mayweather from the first bell. It's very important for the mental battle for Ricky to start strong and do whatever it takes to win the first 2 rounds...he needs to get into Mayweather's head and get him on the backfoot literally and metaphorically. Quick lateral movement, hit and move, hit and move, pushing Floyd backwards...looking to find the opening to the body, left hook or right cross to the head...Ricky will not use the jab to get inside; instead, he will use the side to side movement defensively and offensively at the same time, getting out of the way and setting up the angles...stepping from side to side and forward he will grapple and hold when he has to, and then try to look for a bodyshot before moving to the side or before holding again...
Mayweather will not let Ricky start strong but will give him some time to breathe in the first round to figure him out...he will start by moving around the ring and outboxing Ricky from the outside, using his jab and uppercuts both defensively to keep Ricky at bay and to outpoint and hurt him. Against the ropes, he will do the usual shoulderroll to defend the body and the head and use his hooks and uppercuts to hurt Ricky.
Ricky gets the nod for the first 2.
By round 3, Mayweather will start putting the heat on Ricky, starting to impose his own style. He will not run and box as much as expected. Instead, he will figh Ricky in the middle of the ring, inside...His strategy will be to hurt Ricky, get him to attack wrecklessly and punish him every time...he will goad Ricky on, making him angry, making him come forward, and then he will punish him...His aim will be to stop Ricky on a cut.
The harder Ricky attacks and the more he comes forward aggressively, the more he will be forced to pay by Mayweather. The more aggressive Ricky is, the more Mayweather will hit back and make him suffer...
Mayweather wins rounds 3-8, perhaps giving one more to Ricky, somewhere in the mid rounds.
I expect that by round 9, Mayweather would have opened a cut. I expect the ref to stop the fight when he absolutely has to...I can see that being as early as R9...my prediction: Mayweather TKO 9.
So, what are your thought? How do you think the fight will pan out?
