I like the way you worded your statement to sway people into your line of thinking. Pavlik did not knock out Miranda or Taylor, he scored a TKO, which is the same thing Calzaghe did to Manfredo, yet you have cleverly hidden that fact in a pathetic attempt to influence people.

Kessler would have murdered Miranda, Taylor and Pavlik. Pavlik got hurt a couple of times in the Miranda fight, and then probably should have been stopped in the Taylor fight. Taylor went down and the ref waved it off, but Pavlik went down and got back up and danced round the ring for 2 minutes cos he couldnt stand still, the phrase "punch drunk" comes to mind. Pavlik also has very little boxing skills, just a mediocre jab and a dynamite right hand. Calzaghe has beaten a very dangerous live opponent this year, as well as proving that his chin is rock solid, Pavlik cannot say that.

That said, I wouldnt give fighter of the year to either of them, it simply has to go to The Baby Bull Juan Diaz. How many fighters out there have unified their title twice in one year, against proven opposition?

my picks right now are either pavlik or cotto, but if hatton can somehow pull off an upset, it'd be hard not to give it to him

Pavlik or Cotto, without question. People picking Calzaghe are just nuthuggers that don't know any better. Fighting one good opponent in a year doesn't make you fighter of the year by any means. I don't care if you call him the best fighter in the world or whatever, but be real.

          Pavlik:
          Zertuche KO 8
          Miranda KO 7
          Taylor KO 7

          Cotto:
          Oktay Urkal KO 11
          Zab Judah KO 11
          Shane Mosley UD

          Calzaghe:
          Peter Manfredo Jr KO 3
          Mikkel Kessler UD

Joe shouldn't even be mentioned. Juan Diaz, Mayweather or Hatton would be next in line.

He outclassed both, Pavlik on the score cards against Taylor was about the same level (on mine anyway) calzaghe was miles ahead it ain't about the KO's in fighter of the year in fight of the year it is but calzaghe should get it. If Hatton Ko's mayweather then i think he should get it. Cotto, Diaz are favourites as well. I never really held Miranda in high regard anyway although i do want to see him fight Kessler who i think would destroy him with his sharp punching and command of the centre of the ring. I don't see kessler going backward.

Edit: o **** quoted the wrong guy.

seriously im a big fan of calzaghe and i think unless hatton beats floyd, he has the best win of the year in 2007, however, he lacks another good win in the year, i dont think taylor or miranda were nearly as good as kessler but taylor is much more accomplished and miranda was a solid contender, pavlik came in as the underdog in both and KO'ed them....that should get him the edge over clazaghe, and hatton has a very difficut fight ahead, so kelly should be the favorite....

cotto isnt even in the equation even though im a fan as well, a fight he won in dominating fashion over judah(l3 losses in his last 4 and 1 year inactivity), and a close fight with a post-prime shane mosley isnt as immpressive...

If Floyd wins on saturday it is definitly him, if Hatton wins he makes a great case and will be competing with Pavlik.
