Dawson or Pavlik. Dawson won the title this year and defended it twice. Pavlik knocked out Miranda and Taylor within 6 months so he is the runner up behind Dawson IMO. i would put Cotto at third. he beat Zab and Mosley this year.

Pavlik was rocked slightly in the Miranda fight. Then, SERIOUSLY hurt in his title winning effort. Meanwhile, Calzaghe looked damn near flawless in both efforts. So, one could make the argument.

Calzaghe had a great year, but there can only be one fighter of the year and thats Pavlik.

Seriously.... Dawson had the year of his career. Great year for him. Not the best of the year, though.

Boxer of the year - Calzaghe
"Rookie" (at World level) - Pavlik

Hatton will take it if he takes Mayweather though.

i picked him because he won the title and defended it twice and thats all in one year. thats pretty impressive if you ask me.

I dunno actually. The nearer it gets, the more I think Hatton could make this close. He's the best prepared and conditioned he's ever been and has even held his weight between fights, for the first time ever really. I'd still edge towards Mayweather but I think Hatton might surprise quite a few people.
