Joe Calzaghe Would Like Winky Wright at 168

It appears undisputed super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe is actually considering a defense of his crown. For weeks, Calzaghe and promoter Frank Warren have been locked in negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions for a bout at light heavyweight with Bernard Hopkins. Golden Boy presented an offer, which Calzaghe turned down, because the amount of money was lower than what he made for Mikkel Kessler on November 3.

Cal would be favored. Has very fast hands. And Winky shouldn't fight anywhere near 170 or 168. He won't be as effective. Sure it's a good pay day though. So Wink will probably take this fight.

He still has a chance of winning with his shell guard and strong jab.

Would be a good fight for Joe while waiting for grandpa Popkins to make up his mind.

That would be a damn good fight, although I do think Cal should give someone like Dawson a go at him Winky is a good name who would generate some attention.

big name for Joe, and Winky is a nice guy, he's fought over here a few times so I'm sure he'd take this fight, if they gave him what Kessler got. Joe wins though, Winky is brilliant but he is way too small for Joe.

I respectfully disagree. Cal is to big, to fast, to many different looks for Winky. Cal UD.

Has Joe Cal ever fought someone as good as Winky???

How will Joe stop that Jab??

How effective will throwing slaps at Winkys shell defense for 12 rounds.

Winky has nothing to fear hes fought wayyy harder hitters than Cals.

I actually think this is an easy night for Wright.

Yeah, Winky's defense is way too good for Joe to get a KO. I see this as a much better fight than Winky/Hopkins (TWO mostly defensive minded fighters) was. I think Wright should fight one or two more big fights like this and then retire.

Can I file this with the "Dirk Nowitski's not white, he's german" comment?
