BTW, Pac didn't want to KO Larios when he had him hurt late in their fight. Apparently, it was such a one sided beat down (aside from the 3rd round), that Pac felt sorry for the guy.
Is Manny Pacquiao REALLY the "Mexican Assasin"?

when youre 34 years old and getting hit more than ever, then i think its a clear case of being post prime...i still would favor marquez but pac fans just like to erase all circumstances about why the fight couldve turned that way...justifiable circumstances....I wouldn't say over-hyped. Seriously, there was no other named fighter at the time besides those you mentioned. Marquez had already priced himself out of a rematch with Pac AND Morales! Larios is no slouch, my friend. He's got the reach and height advantage on Pac. He KOd Solis who's an unorthodoxed fighter.
When Morales lost to Zahir, people here complained that he was too small for 135. Then when he went back to 130, he was weight drained and old.
Pac can't win most of you guys over...but he'll just continue to win. So he's now overhyped by the doubters. I think...actually, I KNOW people will say that Marquez is washed up should he lose to Pac in a rematch.
Am I right? And the over hype label will continue.
like i said, pac is good, his destruction of a good version of barrera proves that, but when marquez and morales were close to their primes they beat him, simple as that....
morales has been on the downside since he was 24, the stabilty of hi legs has proved that, i cnat get why people thought he looked good at 130, imo he looked like he had jello instead of legs...heis legs have not looked solid since the first barrera fight, remeber his fight with espadas???with chi??? the second barrera fight even though i think he won???he looked awful on his feet, against chavez too, against hernandez too.....its jsut that he kept winning that people thought he was still good...but lets face ot, when you lose to zahir raheem, you dnt deserve to be in the p4p rankings...pacquiao gets waaay too much credit for his wins...Comment

Zahir is no push over. I knew before the fight that Morales was going to get outboxed.
It's either a case of overhyping Pacquiao or his opponents were overhyped as well until they lost to Pacquiao and people began to look back and see the "aging" of Morales, Barrera...and soon - Marquez.
Morales has always been an engaging fighter so his shelf life was shortened. Barrera changed his style and lasted a bit longer. Marquez was always a counter puncher and obviously, this has helped lengthen his career. But now he's an engaging fighter....something Pac is good at.
And when Marquez loses in the rematch, what will be the verdict? He was old. Past his prime. Changed to the wrong strategy.
In the end, people will still say Pac is overhyped.Comment

Let the record books speak for themselves.
Pac has NEVER been knocked down by ANY Mexican, and he beat ALL the boxers of note in his weight division (EM:3 out of 2, MAB:2 out of 2), except for that controversial draw with Marquez.
All this reference to "prime" this and that boxing legend and how they could have beaten the real winner of the match is pointless since it can never happen in this lifetime except on the fantasies of their fans.
Nitpicking on irrelevant issues and denying a fighter his rightful due is unfair.Comment

as·sas·sin
1. a murderer, esp. one who kills a politically prominent person for fanatical or monetary reasons.
A murderer. Of course, when calling Pac The Mexican "Assassin", its done metaphorically. But this is implying that Manny has completely dominated and destroyed his iconic Mexican opposition. But upon further inspection, has he really?
Pac's first encounter with a Mexican legend, MAB, did result in a complete domination and all out embarrassment of the legend, but his next fight, he failed to replicate the same kind of performance against JMM, who at the time, wasn't proven to be on the same level of MAB. Pac dropped him 3 times in the first round only to allow JMM to outbox/class Pac up till the end of the fight. Whether Pac won that or not is irrelevant because he did not destroy Marquez. Thats not very "assasin" like. Then the next legend to take a shot at Pac, Erik Morales, LEGITIMATELY defeats Pacquiao in a fight where Erik went toe to toe with the Pacster. Of course, Pac's later rendezvous with both Morales and Barrera resulted in complete annihilation of them, but for anyone to not recognize that these war ravaged fighters were already quite past their prime would be just...well, groupie-esque for Pac.
The last Mexican assasin before Pac was Roger Mayweather....why don't you compare their records and see which one had a better resume against Mexicans.Comment

The fact that people consider wins against Mexicans as some type of accomplishment speaks volumes of Mexican fighters. Hopefully one day, the same will be said for Filipino fighters.Comment
