As a crazy boxing fan from a very young age I had heard of him through Ring magazine, I then stayed up to watch him fight Berbick (It was about 3am over here) and was in complete awe of him. For a while, he was boxing, to me and to many.

For two or three years after that he seemed invincible and many including people who I listened to like my Dad and my Coach said he would be the best of them all.

    Unfortunately he eventually beat himself!

He beat hardly ANY TRUE HEAVYWEIGHT HOFamers, his reigh on top was rather short, in the grand scheme of things. And he lacked a magestic aura, in the sense that the great ones come back and take it all. And essentially, he did to a degree and got beaten by an aging HOFamer. Ali, for example, beat Frazier, Foreman, Liston and quite a few others. Then he gets ousted from bixng for political reasons, 3 or so years OUT OF HIS PRIME, and comes back and still fights at a top level, respectably and with force, and does so for a while after.

Mike Tyson was a really good fighter, but people should stop over-selling him.
you got a point there on accomplishments overall. but the thread is when he was coming up. and believe me, if you had lived the tyson era, the majestic aura you're talking about, tyson had it all, but just lost it, but in losing it he was still famous. damn he had even a nintendo game named after him, when home viedogames weren't big yet. after ali, he was the next household name heavyweight in the mainstream, and that was even before the **** case. after him, who else? holyfield and lewis mainstream popularity cant compare, not even foreman's comeback.

Do I have to read out and explain the topic for you? Every has followed suit besides YOU.You find that strange? Or do you need to go back and read everyones posts?

I know he had that. But I answered THAT question before this debate came about. I said.. not huge on the heavyweight division. Never have been. He was exciting and seemed unbeatable to a certain degree. I liked watching him fight. Then we got into something else, that's all....

Too young to care if he was special, and now that I'm old enough to see it, I do. He wasn't anything special, in the long run.

No, Versatile... THANK YOU. Try reading the whole thread before judging me. Ass.

Yes I saw you got to that point. But then you posted again,or did you not? Talking down asking what greats did he face.I didnt know it was in the HOF handbook to NOT be mentioned that you could beat any heavyweight ever. You know how many greats he beat, you wanted someone to answer it so you can start a rant with 6 paragraphs. But no one went for it. I just simply asked a question not pertaining to it.

Anyway you do your thang.I said what I had to say.

I honestly cant believe how big he was when he was younger and fighting as an amateur.

18 years old man...think about that. Have you ever seen someone that developed.

Vers, you are developed, but you are 5'5''. It's easy to build muscle when you are really short (no offense). Which is why all of those short wrestlers are ****ing massive.

Buth e was 5'1'' and bult like a tank.

I think its because of my compact frame. If I walk up stairs I feel the burn, when I do anything pertaining stress on a muscle I feel the burn.I guess they're so compact that it does it like that. Also genetics too.
