Hey man I wish him the best, Like I said most of ringside was all armenians supporting him in his last fight at the hard rock casino. He is a young kid and I hope they move him up slowly, I can see the skill in spurts but he also got caught with some lazy punches his last fight. Im all for diversity in boxing, look at how big boxing has become in the philiphines because of Pac. One always want to see a countryman do well, so they follow that fighter, then they might fall in love with boxing.
very true my friend...
Vanes is the only reason i got interrested in boxing to begin with and now I'm the biggest fan of Miguel Cotto, Paquiao, Calzaghe, Abraham, Darchinyan, Pavlik.
Armenians are a proud race and many come out to Vanes' fight not even to appreciate boxing, but to see our flag raised high after a victory, either way he sells tickets to boxing lovers and country lovers alike.
I'd probably have to take Vanes. It's the one fight where Chavez wouldn't enjoy a size difference. Right now, he's still a bit too green to handle someone w/ Vanes' background. And unless Vanes somehow levels off way too early in his career, both should continue to progress at the same rate, which means Vanes will most likely remain a step ahead at least into their respectve primes.
That said, while I like Vanes a lot, he's being brought along very, very slow, at least for a prospect with Olympic pedigree.

well... i wouldn't say very very slow... i mean who exactly from the 2004 US Olympic is shining or progressing more than Vanes??
Escobedo has a loss already, Andre Ward has kinda fallen under the radar and not lived nearly up to expectations of a Gold Medalist... the others we don't even really hear about. I'd say Vanes has stayed the most active and consistent out of the bunch.
Jr would just wait until he was open and hit him with the body shots.
Matirosyan would get stopped in less than 5 rounds.
dude... this is JUNIORRRR we are talkin about loll, not J.C Chavez the legend loll... JUNIOR is NOT gonna stop Vanes with body shots man... thats just funny to say the least.
watch Vanes on Thursday, Dec. 20 on VERSUS and re-think this through man

Of course we're talking about Junior.
Because SR would have put him in a coma with little trouble.
