    Is Chavez Really A Legend?

Is julio cesar chavez really a legend or just another good fighter, most mexicans say he's a legend but looking at his record its not really impressive and the only fighter he beat was pernell but many say he lost that fight, so where do you place him?

It was actually a draw. And you forgot about Meldrick Taylor.

oh I've never seen the fight, and taylor would have won if it wasn't for the ref stopping it, but do those wins put him as a great legend?

Don't be silly. He destroyed people. He fought a lot of unknowns but also beat all the relevant Americans, including destroying Meldrick Taylor twice. He got a co0ntroversial draw with Whitaker, but that's considered Whitaker's best fight, and he's also a legend. He avenged his first loss immediately with yet another KO and didn't really lose until he fought Oscar who was much bigger and younger

LOL, everything in that post led to you not knowing what you're talking about. Learns something about boxing before jumping on a boxing forum.

He didn't beat Pernell, it was an official draw, though he clearly lost. He beat Meldrick Taylor(who you probably don't even know about), Edwin Rosario, Hector Camacho, Jose Luis Ramirez, Greg Haugen, Roger Mayweather twice, Rocky Lockridge, Juan Laporte, etc.

Just a good Mexican fighter? LMAO.

Wasn't Whitaker's best performance, just his biggest win.

Of course he is a legend.... and not just mexican fans say so, many americans do to. I dont think it is even up for debate. If you dont recognize any other names in Chavez long list of victims how can you even question his status you are probably simply too young or new to boxing.

I mean he fought his fare share of bums, but he did beat some great fighters as well. He definitely a legend in my book.
