What happens to most brawlers when they meet a good boxer? they get schooled and they look like idiots.

I don't think that happens most of the time.

no one remembers the technical boxing matches because there boring. no one remembers any fights of willie pep because he is a boring fighter. gatti is a bum but he is a true warrior and he will be remembered for the great action fights. cory spinks is a better fighter than gatti but no one will remember him because he had pillows for fists and he ran like a coward. boxing is all about the knockouts and the fans on boxing scene should respect the true warriors who may not have the best record or the most belts but they are peoples champions giving the fans excitement and knockouts.
fight of the year winners usually are ones of toe to toe wars and thats just how it is...

its like wanting to see a homerun or a grandslam in boxing...

or seeing a 60 yard touchdown pass in football...instead of steadily running the ball down the field on a 15 play drive.

everyone loves the instant gratification money shots...

i too enjoy the toe to toe wars but i do enjoy seeing good technically sound boxing.

one of my favorite fights of the year (against the majority vote) was Oscar De La Hoya v. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

i enjoyed that fight because of the difference of styles...de la hoya wanting to press the fight and **** with mayweather and mayweather wanting to keep the fight at a distance and fight a defensively minded fight.

there were no knockdowns in the fight and no one really got hurt but i highly enjoyed the watching each fighter's strategy unfold.

and i also enjoyed taylor/pavlik and miranda/pavlik...2 tough toe to toe fights with knockdowns and people hurt.

i dont admire one side of the sport.

but i agree with you to an extent because many casual fans just love to see the knockdowns.

There is a reason its called Boxing and not Fighting. Its a sport, and the point of any sport is to win. Doesn't matter how you do it, a W is a W, wether you knock someone out or stick and move all night. No in a street fight, your objective is not only to win, but to teach the other person a lesson, so you have to knock your opponent out

Some of you sweet-science aficionados seem to thing that a real boxing match consists of 2 guys doing whatever it takes to evade eachothers punches, all the while throwing minimal punches in return. How Cory Spinks has any fans is beyond me.
              I agree with this 100%

is there no one here with the school of thought that maybe defense can also sometimes be exciting ? ok yes i know , seeing a toe to toe war is excitement im not going to dispute that but ill tell you this , boxing is a sport of many different styles and ways in wich those styles are excuted.

you have to at least respect and appreciate someones style that makes that person a great fighter , different strokes for different folks right ?

i mean i find watching some of pernell whitakers defensive tactics and manouvers more exciting than some boxers offense.

sometimes it depends though because you cant win a fight if you yourself are lying knocked out one canvas, sometimes you have no choice but to be totally defensive, you wont be able to win that way though, and if you can win that way you shouldn't be able to.
