Hatton is more popular but Floyd is the bigger draw.

running from the top welters like cotto margarito or williams is somewhat acceptable but when ur running from average fighters like past his prime de la hoya or baldomir and after talking so much crap and claiming to be the best in the world well lets say it gets u the hate mayweather gets

Dude, last I checked the thread wasn't asking how popular he was in AMERICA. Hatton has 20,000 fans coming over.

20,000 fans coming over and probably spending 2 or 3 grand for a guy that is supposedly a massive 'underdog'.
What is it about this that is so hard to understand?

It doesn't ****ing matter that he has 20,000 fans coming over to support him. The overall bulk of the money being generated from this fight is because of Floyd Mayweather. Bottom line. And God help you if you even try to dispute this.

        Therefore, HE IS THE DRAW.

        Comprende?

Yes he did. And believe it or not the May5th fight helped him increase his popularity amongst the casual boxing observers. Do you seriously think all that money made on The World Awaits just came from hardcore boxing fans?

Half the building that night was full of casual boxing fans who didn't even know that the WBC jr.middleweight title was on the line. When the decision was announced and Buffer went "And the new!!!!!", most thought that Oscar won because they thought that Floyd was the Champ.

Floyd's name and stock has risen because of that fight. Alot more people know him who don't even watch boxing.......TRUST.

Before Mayweather, he'd only lost 3 fights, one to the undisputed welter weight champ and during his first fight at welter weight and another to the most dominant jr. welter weight of the past decade. Stop exaggerating.

Let me amend my previous post to most definitely include Joe Louis. I used Ali is my prime subject because he's more recent to the younger fans. But, there is no doubt that Joe Louis, as well as Jack Dempsey, were household names of gigantic proportions.

he made them look silly, if he was just running then why did people leave with a marked up face? de la hoya never really showed much damage in his carrere, but hatton is known for cutting

Boxing was a much biggers sport back then. Alot less money for the fighters and alot more $ for the promoters.

Now the top fighters are cashing in, handling their business and the sport is declining as far as mainstream appeal goes.

Makes no difference to us hardcore boxing fans.
