Hatton is more popular but Floyd is the bigger draw.

Yes Floyd is the villain. He is not as popular as Hatton. He knows that, his fans know that. The Money Mayweather shtick he has been using (flashing his cash and showing off his cars) as of late is a way to make people hate him even more which tranlates into more Cash Money. Floyd's bad guy image is the reason why the May. 5th fight broke all records including the Tito-Delahoya ppv. There is a difference between popularity and mass appeal.

Floyd is not in the Pacquiao, Calzaghe, Hatton, Chavez, Trinidad category. These guys are heroes in their home country and they represent their countrymen everywhere they go. Floyd only represents Floyd Mayweather.....forget U.S.A.

As of right now, he is the top villain in the game. Can we all agree on that? Like a heel wrestler in Wwe, you know the guy everybody booo's everytime he comes out. He is the most talked about fighter in every boxing forum....those are facts. Whether the fans love you and cheer for you or whether they hate your guts and still buy your ppv......it's all the same. Money doesn't discrimate.......it's all green, which is why floyd has been cashing in major.

This thread was inspired by the endless repetative back and forth nonsense at the "Ellerbe: Fans coming for Floyd, not Ricky" thread.

          W

It's the exact opposite for the majority of his haters. That thread has produced 33 pages of banter, WOW.

That's right. Do you know how Ali started the whole trash talking thing?

His influence was a wrestler named George or something. He was the biggest villain wrestler back in those days. Ali admitted he started the whole trash talking thing because of him.

Floyd's influences are Ali mixed in with Gangsta Rap (50 cent duhH) which is why he acts like a self centered, egocentric person. It's part real and it's part act to sell more ppv's.

Hatton is a big fish in a small pond in England.
Hatton is a small fish in a big pond in America.

Mayweather is a small fish in a big pond in America.

I hope that answers your silly thread.

Eubank, Ali and Hamed never set out to be villains

If this Mayweather sets out to be disliked then basically he's pretty ****ed up, who would want to be like that? You have to petty him
