Somewhat, and thank you. But I still have to disagree on some points.

Calzaghe is definitely the better fighter right now, but in terms of overall accomplishment I think they all rank above him. But I agree that he's been fighting better opposition as of late. I don't even think Tito is in that debate at all. And Jones and Hopkins are the definition of "cherry pickers" but they've earned that right IMO.

well guys, it's real simple, instead of calzaghe bitching and complaining about this and that. if calzaghe really really wants to fight hopkins, then give hopkins what he wants, money and location shouldn't be an issue then for calzaghe, he should give hopkins what he wants within reason and make the fight a reality, instead of bitching about this and that.

what people fail to realize is that hopkins and warren are cut throat business men, they both want it all and they both will do without if they don't get their way.

calzaghe and his people are trying to make it look like hopkins backed out of a previous fight because he priced himself too high, get real, they must believe everything they hear and read. you know exactly what happened, the verbal arrangement sounded good so hopkins said lets do it, and then when hopkins looked at the contract with a fine tooth comb he noticed that it was bull****.

see what most people fail to understand, more then half of the boxers out in the world don't even know how to read a contract, and about half of those boxers, their lawyers don't even know what to be looking for, there are few people who actually read their contracts in great detail, and hopkins being one of them. most fighters take the promoters word for it and then they cry they were robbed when their money wasn't the same as the verbal agreement.
seriously, it isnt just one guy in all of this, a lot of people tend to forget that warren is a scumbag and are blinded by calzaghe, so they over look that simple fact.

now, on a personal level, a fight with calzaghe, for me, is the only fight that hopkins should be taking, but if he doesn't at least i know why, because they aren't giving him what he wants, even if they were close, hopkins would take it, but i don't even think it's in the ballpark.

but i would much rather see hopkins fight calzaghe then fighting jones jr., and i'd much rather see hopkins fight calzaghe over trinidad, there is no reason to be fighting trinidad again, i can see the jones jr fight happening for revenge, but all in all the calzaghe fight is the one worth a damn, just warren and calzaghe have got to play ball, instead of saying they are and then blaming everything on Ol'Popkins......

Thats the problem, Joe would make more money fighting a tramp in a phone box with the split that B-Hop would demand. Hopkins knows hed get schooled and probably have to retire, so he will milk it as much as possible.

You need to get off Bernards nuts and realise he would lose and that he doesnt want the fight and he never has.

Perfect post and the bloded part is absolute truth. Let's not forget that at that time Hopkins was a much bigger name than Calzaghe thanks to that Middleweight Tournament, and therefore he deserved the majority share of the purse. That was before even Lacy, and prior to Lacy nobody even knew how to pronounce Joe's last name.

These 2 guys wont come ot an agreement.. both want bigger share of money and both want to fight in there backyard..

This is good news for me as a Jones fan because its looking really good for him fighting either Joe or bernard..

Roy willing to go to UK and take the smaller purse..

                1. Calzaghe would fight in America as he pointed out 100times since the Kessler-fight (e.g. post-fight interview with Kellerman)

                2. Calzaghe would accept a 49-51 split or something like that he said.

GBP made an offer, which was less than Joe got against Kessler. So i guess he should go to America and fight for less money than he can get in the UK?

Hopkins was the big name?? He got 300K $!!!!! for his first fight after Trinidad, so stop talking bull****. Warren offered him 3M $ which was good offer, otherwise DonKing wouldn't have accepted it.

That's just it, Hopkins is entitled to 60/40 in most experts eyes. Same as Jones was entitled to 60/40 in a rematch with Bernard. The bigger name, with the better record and more well known opponets always gets the lion's share of the purse. Calzaghe has no one on his record like a Felix Trinidad, or and Oscar De La Hoya, or a Winky Wright or even an Antonio Tarver.

Hopkins has guys on his record like a Jeff Lacy or Mikkel Kessler in either Howard Eastman or Keith Holmes.

Prime Calzaghe beats a prime Hopkins any day of the week.

Who was Calzaghe's best prime opponet? Byron Mitchell? Omar Sheika?

Certainly none of them compare to Felix Trinidad. Or even a Glen Johnson or Howard Eastman.

Calzaghe will walk around in Hopkins' shadow for as long as history holds boxing records unless he fights and beats him. Otherwise he's wasting his time and effort.
