and you rea;;y think that floyd couldn't go 15 rounds? come on man, floyd could go 15 rounds easily, he's conditioned to the core.
and, as far as him saying he's the greatest, that's fine imo because he has the righ tto say this, it's his opinion, and everybody's entitled to it. there is no way to really determine who is the greatest without displeasing someone anyway, so people who have ray robinson as the greatest like i do, will displease someone who has ali as the greatest. i feel skillwise though, floyd has a very valid argument, imo, he just may be the greatest fighter in the skill department of all time. but, that's just me. agree to agree or disagree but that's how i feel. floyd is suppose to say he's the greatest, he has to live his legacy first, before keeping someone else's going forever. we all know how great ali and robinson were, but this is floyd's time, and there's nothing wrong with humility which is why floyd also stated that ali and robinson were great fighters also.
but, people always like to bash floyd on this forum, but if you go on youtube, when floyd is training before the oscar fight, and having a media interview while he is getting his hands wrapped, he claimed that in every era, there is a fighter who feels that he is better than a fighter who is considered great in the previous era, he's no different. he feels that after he is done, there will be a fighter in the next era who will claim that he is greater than floyd, so it's just showing confidence in yourself. if you come into a sport and bust your ass and train hard in a sport that is a combat sport and is aimed for greatness, only to claim that such and such is the greatest that ever did it, then why be in the sport to begin with. yes, give them their props, but give yourself the glory especially if you have the credentials and have accomplished a lot yourself. call yourself the best to ever do it. that's fine. confidence in yourself only makes you stronger under any circumstance.
and, not to mention, ali and robinson are from a different era in boxing, that had more rounds, more opponents, but less money, so they had to fight more. they fought for legacies more it seemed like. but, in the process, helped boxing get where it is today with all of this money, so in turn, they are to blame for where it is today financially. but, with this being noted, i can understand how people feel when they claim that seeing how ali and ray were from different eras, and boxing was different back then, how can floyd make such claims when he's fighting in a sport that is a business more than a competitive sport today and have people defend it. well, fighters like floyd are smart enough to take advantage of getting more money for their talents and taking care of their families and themselves. but, this takes nothing away from their talents and dedication to this legendary sport. this sport imo was built on confidence and floyd has plently of it as we all know, it's just that people take in his cinfidence different, and some praise it, some bash it, calling it ****iness, what ever the case, floyd has a right to be confident and voice his opinion, whether you like it or not, you still watch him don't you? just like people watched ali, no matter how many times he called himself the greatest, he just showcased his confidence, and he's looked at as a folk hero today by many of his former detractors. hate floyd, love floyd, but you'll still watch him.
