Amir Khan.. why do i dislike him?

im british and he's certainly talented but for some reason i find it hard to get behind him. i dont cheer against him as such but i wouldn't really care if earl beat him in december.... does anyone else feel like this? i think its partly due to the whole media circus that surrounds him and also that i suspect he's a very ****y and arrogant lad

I do cheer against him. I loved it when he got dropped!

He gets far too much attention considering he's only had 13 fights. And he's also no where near as good as he thinks he is.

I hope Earl beats him. Fighters like Pavlik go under the radar for years and don't get noticed until they KO world champions. Then lucky bastards like Khan get every single fight shown on ITV against complete nobodies and the general public overrate him and think he's doing realy well

cant help but agree mate. there does seem to be a lack of objectivity when itv cover his fights and barry mcguigan doesn't help with his constant praise about him. i thinik he's a talented kid but like you say he definitely over-rates himself at this point in his career. i think earl will be licking his lips after seeing what limond did to him.... i think i'd like him more if there was a little more humility surrounding his whole career and progress

        i feel the same.

It gets up my skin when people who know nothing about boxing tell me he's the best britains got, its all just Fwank Warren hype.

I dont think boxing should descend into celebrity culture, my girlfriend buys heat magazing, there was a double page papparazzi spread on amir doing some shopping a few weeks ago. For me that not what its about.

        Earl will sort him out.

there seems to be a lot of support for earl in this fight.... people seem to generally think he has a very good chance of pulling the "upset". i also agree its a travesty that guys like hatton, calzaghe and haye fly under the radar and amir gets all the hype and attention

definitley, but i think things are changing for hatton and calzaghe. Ricky has been a 'publicity whore', but in a good way, he's been on tv every five minutes, and he was spot on when he appeared on parkinson, he's not some shallow celebrity, he's actually a pretty smart man with a good old northern sense of humour.

and the press coverage for calzaghe's unification was immense,

i do feel sorry for haye and froch though, both very skilled and both very under acknowledged. the curse of (not working with) frank warren.

ye totally agree... i think it comes with the territory of being an olympic succes... i can see the same with frankie gavin after next years games, although he is genuinely very talented. i guess if your amir your gonna cash in whilst you can, especially with a less than stella chin! lol

I like the kid. Don't know how great he is.. but I find him to be a decent fighter and could do a lot of things. If he as great as he's being made out to be. Wouldn't it great to have the kind of attention they're trying to get him now? I mean, you gotta build for the future. Nahwa'imean?
