Joe Calzaghe: "Fighting Carl Froch is a Joke"

I agree with Joe, he is at the stage of his career to only chase big money fights, Froch, imo, is not.Comment

JC is correct. No doubt Froch could test JC but that is not what it is always about. JC has dealt with Froch type prospects throughout his career. He dealt with robin reid in reids prime, where as Froch wants credit for beating a past it RR. He dealt with david starie who i think would have tested Froch. He beat richie woodhall etc. And JC has never got any credit for beating the Eubank, Staries, Woodhalls, RR;s of this world.
If JC beat Froch people would say Froch was overated, so i can understand JC not wanting any part of Froch, even though secretly JC probably knows Froch would be a good test.Last edited by hugh grant; 11-16-2007, 09:41 PM.Comment

I dont like Calzaghe talking like that,he has to remember that someone gave him his own chance( Eubank) after stve collins refuse to fight him.
Froch will be the mandatory if he beats Inkin which is good for british boxing as a whole.Comment

Not everyone gets a chance, Calzaghe gave Kessler and Lacy chances, look what happened to them.Comment

He's the same guy who said that Calzaghe was going to drow warren before Calzaghes next fight. As far as I know that user is wrong and Warren is still Calzaghes promoter
Hopkins is smart, and he will dodge Calzaghe once again. Hopkins will never go 50/50 with Calzaghe. So that fight will not ever happen. Hopkins is just a **** talker to make himself out to be a bad ass when he truly is not, but he is a very smart boxer. He knows who can beat him and who can not. So, he will not get in the ring with Calzaghe everComment

Not sure why Joe would even bother addressing the subject. It's not like he's being ordered to fight Froch in his very next bout.
if the WBC orders an eliminator, that gives Joe plenty of time to seek and secure a fight with Hopkins (though to be honest, Hopkins-Calzaghe is at the very bottom of the list of potential fights I'd like to see, ranked just behind Zahir Raheem vs. TBA). And the winner of Froch-Inkin, two top 10 SMW contenders (unless anyone can come up with 10 better than either or both), would be a worthy challenger to the SMW crown sometime late next year. The very best challenger? No. But it's not like Joe and his people are pounding the pavement for a Bute fight or a Kessler rematch.Comment
