WBC junior middleweight champion Vernon Forrest told members of the media during a recent conference call that he needs to fight and beat Ricardo Mayorga in order to satisfy his career by removing two blemishes with one win. Forrest has two losses on his record, both of them to Mayorga. Forrest returns to the ring on Dec. 1, defending his title against mandatory challenger Michele Piccirillo. Mayorga comes back on Nov. 23 in a pay-per-view main event against Fernando Vargas at a catch-weight of 166-pounds. Mayorga is expected to drop down to 154-pounds after the fight. [details]

This fight will bring some much needed excitement back to 154. If they fight I will be cheering for Mayorga, but I think Forrest will take it, he really impressed me against Baldomir. Mayorga can't take punches as well anymore and his stamina is **** from all those years of smoking, he still has a punchers chance though. -

Yeah I hope Mayo can get the win. Because this fight makes sense for both of them. Forrest needs revege & Mayo could use a belt.
Both past their primes so they'll be matched pretty well.Comment

Come on now, dont believe the hype, hes not out chain smoking like that on a daily basis. He runs seven miles a day, stamina has never been a problem for him. And being knocked out by Tito at 160 and Oscar at 154 is nothing to be ashamed of, only very few have power and skills like those guys. This fight will bring some much needed excitement back to 154.
