Im basically asking because Im wondering do you guys really think they are better fighters then Floyd or do you think they will win strictly because they are too big for Floyd and he isnt a real WW while they are huge WW's?
If the 2nd one is your answer then whats the huge deal? I see this alot in the media and on these boards but no one makes a big deal of it. Its like most of the people dont think that P4P any of those guys are as good as Floyd but they think that they can win simply because of the size advantage. My question is if that was the case then why do you rip Floyd and call him a punk? I know for a fact that even the biggest Margarito, Cotto, Williams, and Cintron lovers still wouldnt pick them over Floyd if Floyd was near there size and you know that is true.
So if you pick against him strictly on the size then why arent those guys punks for wanting to fight him? Why does Floyd have to fight all those guys when there clearly much much bigger? Why is he a fraud if he retires without fighting them? At some point Floyd has to stop. What would happend if all the best guys were at 154? Floyd had 1 fight there and beat a very good guy in Oscar but he knows he would have alot of trouble against those big guys if he fought there all the time. At 147, Floyd fights there but he clearly isnt a WW at all while mostly all the other top guys are all big jr. MW's that kill themselves to make weight every fight. Thats why all of them want to fight Floyd. There's no way they would be jumping at a fight with him if he was there size but they know that he's so small that he cant hurt them, they will outweigh him by a ton in the ring, they know he wont fully be at his best because of the size advantage, they know they will get there biggest pay day and a chance to knock off the #1 guy in the sport. They have all the pluses.
Floyd can do A LOT of those things but he is more reserved against fighters he can't KO, he is the SMARTEST Boxer at WW right now while Cotto is smart enough, Floyd CAN **** but he doesn't, like I have stated in the past Floyd aims more for the on paper win than the physical win, his mind games WONT work on Floyd and unless he is the man of steel he will be phased.. people look at Floyds skills and stance and get over whelmed but if you look at versatility Floyd is a notch beneath Cotto, Cotto can fight both righty and lefty, Cotto fight good going forward and even better going back wards, Cotto can fight on the ropes too and slip punches but since his hands are always fully up it doesn't look as slippery in those violent exchanges, Floyd just makes it look nicer but all in all it's the same outcome, punches being slipped and countered..
making **** look pretty doesn't do nothing but add more glare to the flare, Floyd is GREAT on the eyes while Cotto is GOOD on them BUT all that is necessary is punches landed and not how they look while they land, Floyd and Cotto match up with their skills, Floyd just goes more for a round won while Cotto goes more for damage, Floyd ****S when he can, Cotto ****s all the time. Floyd uses his pop shot (which is probably the biggest key in his smarts) more than usual, he plays it safe. Cotto plays it safe but DOESN'T pop shot, they have an almost equal amount of skill because I can't lie Floyd is more slippery than Cotto, he uses more unorthodox methods of squeezing threw the cracks and even if a punch lands due to his superior evasive skills he can take away the umph in his opponents shots, with Cotto you either hit him or you don't and he makes himself hard to hit by having such a sturdy defense and such great precision punching..
against Cotto we saw Shane gradually respect Cotto's power and didn't wail off the way he's known for,he had Cotto on the ropes MANY times and knew to stay in his lane and bring the skills and not the will, he used his brain and not his heart against Cotto and Cotto proved to be a smarter and more effective Boxer, he out smarted Shane who many believe is faster than Cotto, to sum all this up I feel Cotto CAN be the one to break Floyd's defense, his fast punches will catch Floyd at least 2 out of 4 and with Cotto's willing ability to take 1 BIG punch to give 3 big ones of his own i just don't see where Floyd can find his niche, that pop shot style is PERFECT for Miguel because Cotto is a power punching, smart counter punching Boxer, not only due to his speed can he go punch for punch with Floyd but because of his superior power he will have more umph in his shots, when they trade even with 1 punch each Cotto will make the viewers cringe more, I also think Cotto has the power to hurt Floyd, certainly more than Judah and Corley..
I feel this fight is a pick'em overall but I pick Cotto, the above is just my reasons for picking Cotto but anyone can come and say Floyd is too smart, he wont allow himself to be hit as much and he's too tricky, Cotto will never land a clean shot on him and Floyd will take anything Cotto throws, he wont be able to do any significant damage to Floyd and Floyd will use his elbow to create more room for his power shots, Floyd's punches will land faster than basically anyone Cotto had to deal with due to the abnormal length of his arms on such a small body, his punches will land before Cotto even sees them and he will move out of the way before Cotto can land anything in return..
they WONT be wrong but due to who Cotto is you CAN'T say that they are right, like I said this is a pick'em fight and I picked Cotto.. HOWEVER it's NOT because Cotto is naturally bigger, this one deals with skills.. with the others you named I simply don't believe they will win, I don't think they can overcome the cleverness of Floyd and whoever picks them over Floyd due to just their size are not Boxing fans, PERIOD, they should go watch another sport because they don't know the **** that makes Boxing an art, how Floyd can KO Diego (R.I.P) and decision De La Hoya.. 100

PBF can be critized for not fighting those big guys because they are all in the same weight class its that simple. PBF gets hated on more for the **** he says than for what he does in the ring. All the **** he talked was never really a big problem until he started becoming the biggest name in boxing and he beat the 2 fighters white people love the most in De la Hoya and Gatti.
I have to admit that the skills Cotto showed me in the Mosley fight has drastically changed my opinion of him. Cotto is a much better fighter than I originally thought he was and gave him credit for. But I still don't see him beating PBF. Mosley is a different fighter than PBF. PBF will not be hit constantly by that jab or right hand the way Mosley was. Mosley has never been a fighter who could make adjustments mid-fight. PBF constantly makes adjustments during the fight. PBF potshots because he has very fragile hands. He has to pick and choose his power shots especially against those much bigger men. At 147 PBF can't afford to sit down on his punches early and hurt his hands early and still win the fight. At the lower weights he could do that because the size difference wasn't there. Cotto is not the better skilled fighter or smarter fighter IMO.
What Cotto showed me against Mosley makes this fight better than I thought it would be at first but I would still pick PBF. That is because PBF has always been more skilled and smarter than Mosley. Mosley's defense was terrible in the Cotto fight. That statement takes nothing away from Cotto and what he accomplished.Last edited by tredh; 11-14-2007, 10:08 AM.

maybe the best chance is Williams because of his size and southpaw stance which could stablize speed similar to what Roy and Tarver fight.

Well regardless of the size floyd will still beat them all.
The gap in skill is just too great. it would take years of specialized training for them to even come close.
they are all great fighters... But having powe Over floyd mayweather just isn't enough when his elusiveness, SPEED, and ring generalship, and defense is as great as it is.
Just too Great. you'd need a lucky punch to beat floyd.
