Rjj is funny dude. When RJJ was in his peak he didnt want to fight Joe. But now past his sell by date he wants Joe. I would have thought RJJ would want to retire now. But i think RJJ can salvage his reputation with some good wins past his best.
get one thing straight.
Roy Jones never in his career ducked Joe Calzaghe.
Joe Calzaghe called out Roy Jones (who was p4p #1 and the undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion) with these conditions:
MOVE DOWN to 168 and come and fight him in his BACKYARD.
That doesn't sound like the way you really call someone out to me, or the actions and words of someone that is really serious about making a fight.
Then, after Roy Jones beat John Ruiz, Calzaghe gave an interview where he admitted that he was glad that Jones had moved up to heavyweight because he never had any intentions of fighting him, and that the thought of having to fight Roy Jones, who he called the best fighter in the world, absolutely terrified him.
Only after Jones looked beatable in the first Tarver fight, did Calzaghe start talking about how he always knew he would beat Roy Jones.
I respect Calzaghe for his win over Lacy and moreso his win over Kessler, but in the words of Glen Johnson:
"Antonio Tarver may be a coward, but Joe Calzaghe is the biggest coward in boxing!"Last edited by superchamp; 11-13-2007, 01:01 PM.Comment
