It's an obscure distinction that we from Across the pond aren't familiar with making. Hell the Brits aren't exactly up to par on these comparisons either.

Let me give you an example.

S****** is a Brit poster. He made an alt named "The KFC Employer" trying to mimick Colonel Sanders. Instead of type in the necessary Deep South accent............LMFAO he typed like a Cowboy using "Yeehaw" and "Howdy partner" as a catch. I thought it was funny because it's dumb.

A southerner, A Cowboy. Two completely different things.
at least he is trying :P

There are probably people walking around who think Welsh is a brand of juice. I don't care, and nobody else should.

They're all Brits anyways. It's like someone getting pissed off for being called a New Yorker when they were born and raised in New Jersey.
Actually it is nothing like that. Wales is a country in its own right and people who don't know that are ignorant buffoons.

I find that more than a little embarrassing but not at all surprising.

Most Americans I think associate Calzaghe with ENGLAND and not Wales. I mean, if you asked me today where is Joe from I would have automatically said England and if you asked me what part I might have even said Wales!! I think subconsciously we think of Wales as "part of England" rather than part of the UK.
Yes and it's not ignorant on our part. It's not "really" a different country.

Lets not forget the point of this. RJJ wants to fight Joe Calzaghe. Lets be honest about this, EVERYONE wants to fight Calzaghe. I wonder if it is a coincidence that when he was considered the best he wanted nothing to do with Joe, yet now hes past it and Joe is the best, hes screaming for a fight. I would hate to see Joe fight RJJ. RJJ is an ATG and doesnt deserve the ass whooping and inevitable KO that he would receive from Joe.

I guess it might be similar to us calling all Americans "Yanks". I'm sure those americans living in the south dont like being called "Yanks" or find woud see us as being ignorant for calling them "Yanks".
Thank you. That is at least as bad, but it's hard to get people to recognize it.
