I'm saying that Margarito is at best the #4 Welterweight and thats being very generous. Throw in the fact that there are guys in surrounding divisions who make for better fights and I'd say Margarito is Cotto's 7th option at this point and THATS BEING GENEROUS. Why would he brush off his first 6 options for his 7th just to "get a tuneup". If any other fighter did that same thing to Margarito, you'd never let people hear the end of it.

But I can see a problem with a Cotto/Margarito fight, if Margarito was a bum and he was garbage and Cotto lets say backed out of a Mayweather fight to fight this "bum" who is "garbage." Then I would see the reason and the motivation to fill a internet forum with reasons why this fight would be ****** and why it shouldn't take place, lol but no, I dont see what the problem is.

Margarito is ontop of his game, Cotto's ontop of his game, and ultimately this would be a great fight. Not only is there a rare Mexico vs Puerto rico element for the fans, but it would be an all around good fight. This wouldn't be like Floyd vs Gatti or somthin, lol or Roy Jones vs Glen Kelly.

I agree that if others were tied up that the Margarito fight would be acceptable. I'd actually love to see Cotto demolish Margarito, but there are a lot more important fights for Cotto than Margarito. I wasn't trying to say that they shouldn't fight no matter what happens, but why jump into a "tuneup" instead of waitin a few weeks to feel out your better options?
