hearns was a great fighter, but lacks the resume @ 147 to be ranked among the greatest there.
as for potential as the original poster said, hearns is high up there, but he lost to leonard when both guys were as good at 147 as they could've been.Comment

When a fighter is flat-out owned in a fight, they can't be called one of the best in a division. Take a look at what Oscar did to Trinidad in the first few rounds... that only stopped when Oscar decided to be a moron and stop fighting. Regardless of whether Trinidad won the fight, he was exposed that night with quite a few flaws.Comment

but if thats so, then Sugar Ray Leonard just lost a lot of credibility. He was WAY down in the Hearns fight, he needed a knockout to win. If that fight was 12 rounds, Hearns would have walked away the clear winner without controversy on the scorecards. When a fighter is flat-out owned in a fight, they can't be called one of the best in a division. but Hearns doesnt have the resume at 147. I think hes a little underrated p4p though, I cant think of a fighter that went up so much in weight and still consistantly beat so many good people. It really amazes me he beat an undefeated Virgil Hill at 175lbs late in his career.
I would consider SRR #1, and SR Leonard #2.Comment
