Honestly, why would Cotto want to be like Trinidad, in terms of his career, anyway? Other than the money and fam ein PR, there's not much else that's so impossible to over-shadow. Not to sell Tito short, he's an exciting puncher, with a huge heart who always comes to fight, and NEVER stops believing in himself. He's great for the sport.

But, in terms of his accomplishments.. He was a three-division champion (147, 154 and 160) and had an overall record of 42 (35 KO) - 2 (1 by KO) - 0.

His biggest fights were Whitaker, De La Hoya, Vargas, Hopkins, Mayorga, and Wright.

He had a close, but deserved win on a SLIGHTLY faded Whitaker, got a "nice" decision on De La Hoya, beat Vargas in a foul-fest (Cotto MAY have taken from that fight.. lol.. jokes), got outboxed, then KOed by Hopkins, beat Mayorga and then got outclassed by Wright. That's a pretty checkered overall "big-fight" record, at best.

Even if you think he deserved to win both De La Hoya and Whitaker, he didn't look overtly GREAT in either fight. Though, I still think he should have beaten Whitaker, and it was a real good fight.

Cotto has beaten Judah, and is now in there with Mosley. If he gets passed him in a decent way, he's got some other names to build a BETTER legacy on, if you ask me. Hell, he could actually BEAT De La Hoya, prime or not, and then some in a loaded division. I don't know if he will, but he has the chance to be BETTER than Trinidad, in my personal opinion.
